Question **decision** 2007 Is350? Or 2008 Is350?

Hey Everyone!!

Here's the deal! 2007 IS350 vs. 2008 IS350??

2008
Loaded w/ 18" Wheels & Summer Tires, HID Lights, Nav (w/rear camera), Premium Pkg. (w/ Rear Lip Spoiler)
$42,836 MSRP
$41,200 AGREED PRICE
+$685 for XM w/ iPod Integration

2007
Same as above But Missing:
*Passenger Seats w/ 2 Way Power Lumbar
*Illuminated Trunk Lid & Fuel Filler Controls
*Rear Camera on Nav. System (Did not list it as part of Nav. system on vehicle inquiry report)
*Rear Spoiler (Did not list as part of Premium Package)
Missing LR from Port Installed Accessories (What is LR??)
$42,171 MSRP
$40,000 AGREED PRICE
+$685 for XM w/ iPod Integration

QUESTION:
Is the leasing residual on the '08 going to be that much better than the '08? The '07 is $1,200 LESS and missing a few items from the '08 version.

Both cars are about 10 days out - WHAT ONE SHOULD I PICK? Both are Obsidian w/ Cashmere.

Thanks For Your Help! I don't know which way is up or down now and could use some fresh opinions other than my "Lovely Wife's"

When you drive off the lot, the car becomes a "used" car and takes about a $2k loss. Then, for being a model year behind, it will take another $1,500+ loss. Thus, the 2008 is the way to go. A bit more upfront, but the value is there. Also, be sure to get the car you WANT, not just what is on the lot.

By comparing the 2006 and 2007 at both Edmunds and KBB, you can see the difference in value to make your own decision. The dealer should discount the 07 another $2k.

I have obsidian/cashmere.

Personally I'd go with the '08. It's newer. The spoiler alone is worth $500. I could be wrong but I thought they all came with a camera with the premium package? But if not, I personally think it's worth it. (I do alot of parallel parking.)

Don't know what LR is.

And the others here will be able to tell you if that's a good price. Did you check the invoice on Edmunds?

I haven't checked Edumds - But I will now! Does anyone know what the residuals are on the '07 & '08, or where's a good place to look for this stuff?

Thanks

You should be getting around $2.5K off for the 08 and ~$4K - $5K for the 07.

I'm starting to see the light! Edmonds only has the 2007 values, but the base price is exactly $200 different than the '07.

I've talked to 3 local dealerships and they've all said that with this car being so new and so HOT, that I won't see much more than $1500 off MSRP. Is that true or salesman BS talking?

Thanks

could be true - It is brand new. Though salesmen are always full of it, so its hard to say.

10K over MSRP? That has got to be made up. Or the guy who wants it is a crackhead.

How can the '07 be "missing" illumnated fuel door/trunk lid buttons? This is not an option--it's std. How can the Nav be "missing" the rear camera? And, I'm fairly sure lumbar is part of the passenger seat--again, it's not an option.

For IS350s that's more or less true. If you can get down to halfway between invoice and MSRP I'd jump on it. There aren't that many 350s made, let alone getting one with the colors and options you want, so the dealer can pretty much name their price and you have to pay if you really want the car. I can't imagine they would discount the 2008s, though it sounds like there are a lot more 2008s available sooner than I would have thought so you never know.

the rear vew cam is ALWAYS come with the Nav and dont' listen to any saleman. Call around and you will be able to save a lot more than just a 1000 for the 07.
