Default Alternate Key Fob Monthly or Annually?

for those that care, are you alternating the use of your key fob per month, or locking one away unused for a year OR atleast until fob A/#1/primary dies? just want to see what people are doing as some fobs have been out for a couple years now. i think phil is on the annual basis if i recall one of his posts.

1. use 1 key fob until it dies
2. switch to the other until it dies
3. buy 2 batteries
4. repeat

The IS takes CR1632, not 2025. You can get them at the dealer, at a battery specialty retailer like "Batteries Plus" (if you happen to have one of them in your area), or on eBay.

I don't switch them because I have each one programed for a memory seat position--my wife is shorter than I am.

CR1632 batteries are very common number.
I can even get that number at my local supermarket.

Two years is typical, but some people have had them die much more quickly. The original one that came with my car died prematurely at 2 1/2 months. Its replacement is still going strong a year and 7 months later.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Everyone has the CR1620 (right diameter but too thin) and the CR2032 (right thickness, but too wide); but you won't find the CR1632 at the supermarket, the pharmacy or Radio Shack.

I guess you're right.
A quick search shows Radio Shack has the battery available but only the web store.

I wonder if it really matters whether the FOB is being used or sitting in the drawer. The batteries may die at about the same rate either way because of the way the system works. I don't ever press any buttons on my FOB, so I imagine it is always in some sort of "ready" state even when it's in the drawer.

The gf has a keyfob, too, so I plan on replacing the batteries as necessary.

If I only had one in use, I'd replace the batteries just the same, anyway, as having a functional spare is good.
