OK, so this morning on my way to work i had like 1/8 of a tank of gas left, i swung by the petrol station to fill up, normally i fill up with the 98 octane petrol but for some reason this particular station only had as high as 95oc. The other day for the first time i heard that you shouldnt mix petrol of different octanes. Is this true?
Doesnt really make sense but if it is true wats the worse that could happen?

It's not true. In the US, some stations (e.g. Sunoco) mix two different octane fuels in different ratios to provide a selection of four different grades of gas.
What's important is that the mixture have a minimum octane rating of 95 RON (which is equivalent to 91 AKI by the (R + M) / 2 method in the US and Canada) Using a lower octane than recommended will cause the computer to retard the engine timing, causing a loss of fuel economy and performance.
