The BFG's are not a good investment without either alot of hp/tq or a way to dump the power at the starting line...and no way in hell i'm ever going to do a neutral drop in this car. They are more of an insurance thing to prevent the possiblity of any wheelspin, especially in cooler weather and crappy track prep.
As for doing the short burnout, there is a small puddle (water box) that you set the set the rear wheels in and I just tap the brakes for a second while hitting the throttle and let the tires spin the car up to the starting line. This is done to warm the tires up and clean out all the debris that easily sticks to them.
Oh and he even had his Hot Air Intake (Fujita) in his car. I bet he could have got an even faster time than me if he had his OEM intake system on, but he enjoys the sound of the intake. To each their own and at least the exhaust seems to be making up for it. haha
very funny james..btw the last run i did i had it in manual mode at 2nd gear and took over shifting thru 4th gear.
is that b4 or after the honeymoon ..j/k i guess she wont be there for that one..you can thank me for proving you can fit 3 kids in the rear later
3 kids in the back was impressive Emil.
BTW..mark your calender now for November 4th. Not only do you need to see the naughty nurse contest, but because I have a feeling you are going to get the kind of times you have been after and you'll most likely beat me with that Borla exhaust.
Ive never heard anyone say DR arent good its all about if you know how to launch an auto......there are stock IS 350 running mid 13s completely stock.
There is no need to do a burn out w/stock tires
Ill let you know how it goes when i run the 1/4 on DR
Yes.. I was able to hit a few 13.3's in stock trim and on street tires. You are also correct that you don't need to burn out w/stock tires, but it's always a good idea to give them a small spin to get any small stones and such out of the tread.
Looking forward to hearing how you do with the DR's as I have yet to see a better method at launching this car besides mashing the gas. Sub 2.0 60' times can be had with enough power, ideal weather or lots of weight removal. Of the runs I've made so far with the drag radials I only hit a 1.9x 60' time once and that was due to the ideal weather conditions we had that day and a lucky launch.
