You're one of few that would actually apologize, so all is forgotten. I figured you ate too much Poutine, and Molson in Kanata (which is where I work 3x's a year).

That thread is about engine break-in, not shift points.

BTW, I checked the wiring diagrams for the paddles, and they look like they will be really easy to connect to my ECU!!!

So in light of what Gernby discovered, is there any reason whatsoever we'd want to be in ECT-Power mode??

I'm getting too much credit for this, but I've never felt like ECT-PWR was usefull on the street, so I've rarely used it. Unfotrunately, I've mostly used it while drag racing.

I can never figured out why my car shift before redline most of the time and once in a while it would shift at redline. I gotta try it this season without ECT-PWR. Thanks for sharing the infos Gernby.

ECT PWR is the setting that feels good - you feel a lot of torque - but it isn't the quickest and fastest.

The one caveat I would add to Gernby's analysis - the car does shift differently on uphill/downhill segments. There's a whole big discussion about how the transmission shifts differently depending on if you are going up or down a hill in the New Car Features book. If you've been down a steep hill and used the brakes, you know the gearbox downshifts very aggressively to maintain your speed.

when im cruising.. i feel that here is less of a delay to jumpr from 40-70 or something like that with the ect on.... if not it seems like it takes longer to drop gears for a fast take off

Anyone actually try shifting with the paddles to gain the extra rpms?

I have tried that a few times at the drag strip. It was very hard to get it right because I had to time it right or else it'll hit the rev limiter.

Do you know if the ECU would change the shift points based on incline even at WOT? I can certainly see why Lexus would change the shift points up and down depending on hills, but I hope those changes only occur at partial throttle.
