Same here. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but it is very japanese. Germans are much better at building tanks.....too bad they can't get them to be reliable.
Lexus has a huge lead on other japanese brands as far as build quality, but they still have some work to do before they get where I want them to be.
My last car, 06 330, was bank vault solid from day one until I sold it and showed no signs of slowing down. I just couldn't keep the damn thing on the road. The compromise between reliability and 'japanese' feeling on the Lexus made the decision an easy one.
P.S. To the OP, the G reminds me of a cheap Nissan in a number of different ways.

Of the three choices I'd choose the 08 G35 in a heartbeat. I almost traded in my 99 LS400 for one after a test drive. My next choice would be the Acura TL. The IS250 would be 3rd. I really like the 07+ G35 Sedans. The interior is really nice, good power, good styling IMHO. Infiniti really stepped it up with this redesign. Best car in its class IMHO.

when i was looking here were my choices:
'07 G35 S- for about $33k
'07 Lincoln MKZ- for about $32-33k
'07 Lexus IS250- about $34k
The IS was the most underpowered and overpriced of the three, but the quality and service is unparalleled.

It really all depends in what you are looking for. If you like the IS and as you just said you like the speed, than get the IS 350 not the 250... because speed wise the 250 doesnt compete with the TL and the G35. I personally in terms of style and everything say to go with the IS350 or the TL, but not the 250 because of the engine, even though i have it.

Did you say you're just getting your license? You should get a Ford Focus! Holy cow, those are the 3 cars you are looking at? I have to go talk to my parents who made me buy my own car and I ended up with a Datsun B210. Of course, now you can tell that I am a bit older than you. :-)
BTW, my wife had a TSX and we hated it. Really strange feel to it, sort of like it never really wanted to get up and go. Transmission was all over the place, always downshifting for more power. Turning radius was horrible, always forcing a 3 point turn. Cheap feeling leather. I know some folks like it, but it's not even close to a Lexus.

I have a comment about the suggestion to get an AWD because one may live in an incliment region. I live in NY.
Sacrificing the power and joy of driving a 350 isn't worth it (to me). The 250 IMO is too weak for me to have enjoyed it. A friend has the 250 and is satisfied with it - that's what it's all about. Just not for me.
Get the 350 and buy an extra round of OEM rims and good snow tires if you can afford to do it. I had absolutely no problem in the snow last year.
Believe me, it's worth it. I got good snows and the car still performed great.
AWD is definitely a great option from Lexus though. If they had an AWD 350, I would have gotten one. I'm just saying it's not necessary.
