Hi CL,

I am getting new wheels and I need your feedback on which tires to get. The sizes I’d like to get are: 235x35x19 & 275x30x19. Since I live in Saudi and our roads are very bumpy I was looking for the most comfortable tires and the best in their category. The OEM Potenza were very noisy so I’d like the new tires to be as silent as possible, to be suitable for all weather climates, and to have a reasonable wear. After reading the reviews it was clear that I should go with Michelin Pilot Sport 2’s (aka PS2), I got a quotation for 1,466 USD. Since i know an insider at Continental, i droped by and got quoted for the Continental Sport Contact (aka CSC) for 960 USD.

I’d like to hear from people who actually used these tires, please keep in mind that roads in Saudi can be very very badly done… uneven roads, pot holes and sharp speed bumps are a daily routine.

I appreciate your input guys, please keep in mind that the price is not a big issue; i am looking for quality not best bang for the buck, but i also wouldn't like to get ripped off

I had the CSC3s on my last ride and was fairly impressed. They aren't the best tires ever, but they were pretty nice.

But, getting wheels that size with lower profile tires will only make your ride worse. There just aren't lower profile tires made that will do what you want.

Both of the tires you are looking at are very high performance tires; oriented more towards sport than luxury.

Now, on the opinion: For $500 less, I wouldn't hesitate for a second on the contis. Hell, I'd probably pick the contis even if it was a $100 difference.

CSC's are supposed to be the top dog now. I have heard nothing but awesome things about them, but then again they are big bank hank style.

I have toyo t1-r's and everyone seems to really think they are this reall bad azz tire. I don't think they are really much different then my stock bs's.

That is a real good price on those conti's.

I used to have PS2's on my Sterns and all i can say is WOW....they really stick to the road, i was very very impressed. IMO they are def. worth the money. That being said, ive never tried the CSC's so i dont know how they compare.

Thanks guys, i have plenty of time to make up my mind, my wheels need at least another 5-6 weeks to arrive and the tires order should take about 2 weeks max. May i point out that the dealer said they don't do CSC2's or 3's (only CSC’s). I am guessing they are an improvement/refinement over the CSC's? or perhaps just more aggressive? this might be the reason behind the price difference?

I am starting to lean more towards the CSC, sounds like i got a good deal on the price and i am getting this hunch that they might be targeted towards a more luxurious market than a sporty one.

I appreciate all the advices & inputs, please keep them coming. Just curious, any one has any of these tires on a similar setup (235x35x19 & 275x30x19)?

I have used both. Get the PS2s. they ride smoother and quieter than the Continentals. Not to mention they get better traction too.
If money is an object then get the Continentals.

No I am running 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 PS2s. I had a set of toyos for my S4 when I first upgraded wheels and they wouldn' t road force so I made the tire shop replace them with PS2s, that is when I first fell love and decided if I had the money I would never go with another tire aside from the PS2.

Why 275/30/19 in the rear? Why not 275/35/19's? They'll be closer to the stock overall diameter and they'll ride slightly softer.

That would be too big. Not to mentino it evens out the fender gap. Notice on a stock is the front looks way higher because the fender gap is much larger.

pls expain more bout the rear sizes as im getting 275/35/19's rears too and 245 40 19 fronts ( i think) i bought rims today and getting them in 3 days. Ill double check tomorow but i think those were the sizes. should i change the sizes??

dude ur getting 245/40 in the front? thats huge ur deffinitely gonna rub if you plan on dropping it at all..... 275/35 is too big too. 235/35 and 265/30 is the norm......

this is what all us on CL are running if you look at all our different setups. I dont think i've seen anyone running a 245/40 in the front....and theres one person i know of running a 245/35 in the front and he rubs on that so ur def. gonna rub w/ a 40

I had 265/35 on my car before I put on the 275/30/19 tires. They looked alright, but were a little to tall. So I went with the 275/30/19 and it looks better because the rear tires isn't way beefier than the front. It is a lexus I dont want it looking like muscle car. I want the tires to appear to be the same diameter, but be wider in the back. The 275/30/19 is actually .1 inch taller than the 235/35/19. So if you want beefy get the the 265/35 if you want smooth and clean get the 275/30.

yo i think i amde a mistake it might be 275/40 read and 245 35 rear. i jsut called and asked the dude here and im waiting for him to get back to me .

nope i was right: tiore size is 245 40 19 and 275 35 19. I bought the wheels from the TOM'S distributor here and thats wat he says TOM's Recommends. I did the whole tire calculcation and its around 7% off the dimension of the stock wheel. Should i trust TOM'S? wat do i lose, just odometer accuracy?
