Quick & Easy question about trunk lid opening "pop"
I had an IS300 for 7 years and loved the fact when ever I popped the trunk, it opened enough (6-8 inches) for me to easily access the trunk lid..
With my IS350, when ever I pop the trunk, it just pops about 1/2 inch.. I have to slowly access the trunk lid each time..
I guess I am wonder if anyone's 2nd Gen IS Trunk lid pops open enough to easily lift the lid with out any grabbing issues..
Thanks in advance

Its not about the heaviness... but more on the grabbing point of lifting it..
I used to be able to just grab the trunk lid bottom edge easily... now its sort of a task when hands are full...

I like that it doesn't fly open. I drove to a meeting last week, and it was raining when I got there. I was able to pop the trunk, get out with an umbrella, and lift the trunk lid to get my stuff without it being soaked.
I've seen this topic come up at least three times now, and it's refreshing to see that we have no real complaints with this car. Clearly this is the case, or we wouldn't be nitpicking it apart like this.

Picky or nitpicking... nah....
If any of you owned an IS300, then you would understand where I'm coming from..
It never flew open, just 6-8 inches where an elbow could be used if needed...
I really don't mine the "heavier" operation of the trunk, just the grabbing point once its pops... There really isn't one unless you grab above the lic plate.
I did some tests today with poping the trunk and giving it a 3-5% lift assistance with my pinky... To my surprise each time the trunk would pop up an extra 3 inches before it firmed to the shock resistance..
So what I see in this desgin change isn't too far from its roots..
Thanks for the discussion so far..
