Who says I am bench racing? click my sig. and look at caymandive's drag journal. I bet i have been to 1/4 and 1/8th mile tracks in my IS more then anyone on this forum. I can scan slip after slip that shows me running consistent 13.3's-13.4's. Caymandive can vouch for how much i have been. this was with barely any miles on my car. I bet now that summer is over, I will start to hit consistent 13.2's - 13.4's. Actually, there is no doubt in my mind.

As far as finding it hard to believe Caymandive, you need to go back and read the forums. I see you only have 135 post. caymandive is a well respected and standup member of this forum. He has no reason to lie about this and neither do i.

Look at both these runs. Both are 13.3's. who knows though maybe i just picked up random time slips.

go back and read all the 1/4 mile threads. Caymandive, roro, gernby, and myself have all manage 13.3's

the above pics are examples of bench racing

anyways, i am done with this. stock m3's are not as fast/nor as slow as my IS and a few others. On a track YES they will whip our butt. In a line and from a dig, i think not.

I find it hard to believe you "usually beat" random M3 coupes at the dragstrip when it dynos much higher and is substantially lighter than the IS350. Then again, it is possible since M3s are very hard to launch because of how hard their wheelspin is off the line since they get 90% of their torque at only 1800 rpm. IS350 hooks up better. (hence the 2- 3 mph high trap speed).

Look at the video I posted of E46fanatics.com drag runs and you will see bolt-on/software M3s running 12s.

If you want to avoid bench racing and want to prove you can better those M3 on the dragstrip, rather than basing on some random M3 encounter, the best way to do it is by calling someone out at e46fanatics.com in your region and challenge him to race on the race track. I am sure many must be happy to help you settle this. That will prove your point.

Believe what you want, but in my own personal experiences with the few E46 M3's I've raced at the track I haven't lost in ET yet, but a few have had higher trap speeds than me, which I expected since they have more hp and slightly less weight. I also believe that there are faster E46 M3's than me, just haven't come across one yet.

Honestly I don't care, just trying to point out that the IS350 and E46 are fairly comparable at the drag strip in stock form. Handling and highway pulls my money would be on the M3 especially with mods.

BTW...Have you driven a IS350? You seem to know a lot for not owning one.

Yes. I did when I took my friend to show the IS350 Sport and IS250 6 spd who was looking at 335TT and G35 Sport M6 for his next car. We also drove the 335TT 6 speed and M3 SMG back to back as well to make a comparison.

I mod my own car for fun and track it once in a while (not enough to destroy my clutch). So I am a general car enthusiast and like to appreciate good cars.

to end this m3 vs IS350, given both car are stock and both experienced drivers, the M3 will win from any speed . The IS350 however is VERY easy to launch, smash the gas and go. If the M3 driver can't drive then it might be even or the IS350 might win by just a bit. From a roll, the M3 will win every time unless the M3 driver is stupid enough and not downshifting.

Being a former BMW M3 owner, (95 E36, 98 E36 M3c, and 02 E46 M3). Stock to stock, the IS350 will not beat the E46 M3. I attended a driving school recently with the IS350 and it was very dissapointing. The IS350 is a nice daily driver but from a performance perspective, the IS350 can't touch the M3.

On the street anything can happen. The IS uses an automatic so there's no messing up when it comes to the shifts just gas and go. The M3 driver however has to be a darn good driver and not mess up at all in order to beat an IS when the cars are so close in performance. In multiple runs I'm fairly confident the IS will win more simply due to consistancy.

A little story. Last friday night I beat an e39 last gen model M5 not because my car's "faster" but because I just mashed it from a light and he had to shift. With every shift he did he lost a little ground to me till he lost once we reached the next light. so much for 400 M hp.. It's no use if you can't shift faster than my auto tranny.. hehe
