^you can alleviate your fears by reading the owners manual. you can unlock your car door by using the physical hard key. no batteries needed.

Everyone, thank you for your input. Just bought some batteries. Called Lexus and the parts department quoted me for $12 a piece, called Toyota and they have the same battery for $3.50 a piece, so I drove over toToyota and bought two. Works just fine and saved money as well.
