Default Mtec HID Help

Hey guys and gals,
I recently purchased the Mtec 6000K HID's from another member on the forum. I received the kit after I returned from a business trip but there were no installation instructions. I searched the threads and Google but I cant find them anywhere. I was hoping one of you might still have them laying around and might be able to fax them to me so I can finish this tonight. I am mostly interested in the wiring portion of the instructions. I have figured out what to do to get the bulbs installed and how to mount the ballasts. I just dont want to fry my electrical system. Any help is greatly appreciated. You can send me a PM or post your reply here and I will be in touch. I will check it frequently for responses. Thanks in advance for your help.
Josh

I have owned the same Mtec kit, & just like most other aftermarket kits, it is a PNP (Plug & Play.)

Here is a link that will most likley help you on your install...

I saw this thread and got alot of information from it, but what I really need to know is why there are some spliced wires. I thought it was plug n play too.

I figured that maybe I needed to post some pics of what my problem is so you all can see what I am up against. Just looking for a couple of answers.

OK, so you have a relay there.....here is how the relay works, there are 4 poles (technically 5 with one not used).....one of the poles off the relay goes to a power at the battery, the other goes to ground, one pole comes from the stock headlight harness (triggers the relay) last one goes to the ballasts....hope this helps a bit (if you can figure out where the 2 wires already go fromn the harness (last pic) maybe you can deduce the other 2. The 1st pic is a wire coming from what ????? is it a power going into the ballast...if so, that connects to a connection from the relay, then the ballast should have a ground, and 2 wires from it go to the HID bulb.

I personally don't have the MTEC kit, but mine did come with relays, and I did the install without it...

From what I've read, the whole purpose of the relay is to reduce the electrical wiring path from your battery to the ballast.... but if the existing harness supports the extra current flow (it is thick enough), you may be able to go without it.

Anybody having problems with their HID setup who didn't install the relay?

The wire in the first picture has the 2 pins that plug into the original lighting plug that the original lights were directly connected to. In the second picture I know what 2 of the wires are, 1 goes to the battery and 1 goes to the ballast. What I dont know is what connects the lighting system to the ballasts and tells them to come on. In the second picture the red spliced wires post leads to the switch in the relay. Still need help to get this completed. Thanks for all the replies so far. And if you bypass the relay, how would that hook up?
