Hello - I am considering purchasing an IS 350.

I have heard that the engine makes a loud 'ticking' noise during cold weather startup, until it warms a bit.

Can anyone confirm / deny this ? I live in a cold area.

The engine makes a noticeable ticking noise at idle in all weather. It's due to the high pressure direct fuel injection, and is completely normal.

 

^ Yup, completely normal due to Direct Injection. Its a small price to pay to get 306hp and 28/21 mpg . . .

 

Well, a small price to pay for 306hp and 18/25 mpg. The '08s are rated under the EPA's revised (and supposedly more accurate) test methodology.

 

^ Then it's a good thing that we have the '06s . . .
