Lexusaudio is selling a kit that works fully, but its a lot more expensive than buying it factory direct.

Try giving Greg Webb of Ray Catena Lexus in Oakhurst NJ a call...
He shoukd be able to Special Order everything you want...
Do you plan on driving this car when it snows??? If yes, I recommend the AWD... but thats just my opinion..
When ever its snowed I left my IS300 at home, when I lived in NY...

Lexus of Norwood, MA has a few MT in the showroom if you're doing an all-out search. If you're set on getting the manual--go for it. I bet most people who talk crap about it have never actually drivin the 250 MT. It requires some getting use to but who cares. My opinion, you cant settle for an automatic if you're a fan of manuals. After the new car excitement is over, you'll miss having a clutch, or rippin' onto the highway in 2nd gear, and you'll eventually be bored, repeating to yourself "My next car will definitely be a manual".

Okay, so I dropped by the dealership today. And they're unable to comply with every option that I wanted - IS250 MT, Mark Levinson and luxury package. Even down to the color I wanted is unavailable. Special order? Yeah, I asked but they're telling me that they won't special order this way for manual transmission, because from what the dude said, it stopped selling around here after the first year, so they just didn't order it anymore. Nor will they just order one for me, cause he says that it doesn't work that way. They hafto order a big number of them? Or something. I don't know.
I've read previous posts about different regions carrying different options, but I didn't think it was going to be this bad. The disappointment level is just unbelievable. I've called dealers in jersey, and there's one in Prestige that actually did a lot of research for me. They say they'll special order one, exactly the way I want it. And with the wait of 3 - 4 months, but that's okay. I just want my baby!
BUT
It's going to come out to be 38k WITHOUT tax. So in total, its going to cost me 42k. Not worth it! I might as well go with the 350 at that point. And we all know that teptronic just isn't going to be the same. My last resort is to speak with dealers in florida, cause I've been told that they carry more manual transmission in stock there. But this would mean flying down there after I get the vin number, then driving it back, which will put about 1500 miles on my car already. ideas?!!?

Ok, so maybe that's a bit biased, for those wishing to purchase the car simply for looks, the lower end meets your quota?

hehe, personally, I see no point in paying 3k less for a car that is substantially slower and has less gadgets...it's like getting a BMW 328i over the 335i...

Very few 350s up here in the Northeast. The dealers are really pushing the 250 AWD and if you ask about a 350 they will generally give you a few color options and tell you it's hard to get because it doesn't sell that well in the snowy areas. I've found that there's a lot of resistance in negotiating a discount on the 350. Dealers seem pretty firm on not going below the midpoint between invoice and MSRP. By the way, you can't get a fully loaded 350 for $40k OTD. The invoice alone on my car which I consider pretty close to fully loaded (2008 IS350, sport pkg, nav+ML, park assist, PCS/dynamic cruise, G-spiders) is about $44-45k with MSRP around $50k. I got mine for $47k and then had to pay $2800 or so in sales tax, so my OTD price ended up near $50k with a discount that's pretty indicative of the market right now.

To the OP, AWD isn't available in MT. I don't know the numbers, but if you think the 350 is rare in the NE, the 250 RWD must be pretty rare too: 100hp less, and no AWD. Then mix in the 6MT?

The 250 is the cheapest Lexus I think, so it qualifies as the entry level Lexus which also is a big factor when people are car shopping. If you could get a Lexus for a few grand more than a loaded Camry I would go for it if I was looking at a new car in that price range. Now a 350 puts you at about 10k over that same benchmark, and most people could care less about speed, performance, etc. so I can see why the 250 sells like hot cakes. The 250 AWD is everywhere in this area now that the car is in its 3rd year - almost as popular as the 3-series! I've got one of the few 350s, and I've never seen a red one since they only sell it in black, white, silver, or dark gray.
