Lol ok well glad you found out what it was and all motors make various noises cheap or not even a high end motor will make noises at idle.

2IS engine noise = direct injection = better throttle response. Its just new car tech.

Hi there

On one hand many engine's idle sound is unattractive. Some because of the injectors and some because of valves and camshafts. However - I like the sound of my is 250 during acceleration. Unfortunately the IS 350 is not sold in Europe but I can imagine that it sounds even better.

I've heard of some big NVH issues with Cadillac's new hi-feature direct engine V6 in the new CTS also. It sounds like direct injection still has some issues related to noise that still need to be dealt with. Those injectors operate at very extreme pressures.

Dealer sells authorized Lexus earplugs for only $35 per pair.

do the 250 and 350 engines both have direct injetion?

i agree it makes the car sound cheap.

but inside you cant hear it at all, which is what matters

Yes. The IS250 and IS350 both feature direct injection, but the IS350 adds a set of secondary conventional port injectors that only come on during high engine loads.
