I'm not sure if any of you guys notice this but I don't like how the engine idle sounds. It makes this clunky but not loud sound like you can barely hear the motor spinning. I thought it was my car but I hear it on all 2IS, not sure about 08 models. It makes the car sound cheap like Corolla. Aside from that 2IS is amazing car.

 

The slight ticking noise is the direct injection. There is no way around that!

Very few cars use direct injection yet, it's a relatively new/expensive technology

man I like the sounds of the direct injectors. Sounds like there is a big *** cam ticking or something. Like you know there is some serious business under the hood

 

you should have gotten an ES350, it's so quiet you won't even noticed the engine is running. That way you won't beef about the injector noises.

 

Even with the ticking the IS is the quietest vehicle in its class at idle.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one annoyed by the slight ticking of the engine idle sounds. Good to know that they are the direct injectors.

 

I was worried when I first heard it to, but since it's the injectors I've grown accustomed to it to where I kinda like it now.

 

i was ready to have the dealer check the computer for proper timing. Sounded like engine ping.

 

I have had probably 6-7 people come up to my car now and tell me I might want to get it "checked out" because of this.

 

I swear everybody in the world has heard this noise except for me. Even my friends who know nothing about cars tell me they hear "strange ticking" when they stand outside the car.

I guess I just have a really indiscriminate ear when it comes to engines... I'm gonna have to work on that, heh.
