I think I have a few scratches that I know wasn't caused by me, that's what really sucks. At least the car looks perfect from far away and I can live with that.

As long as their are no visible dings in the car I am personally happy.

Scratches and chips are going to happen.

Agreed. I would leave it be for now. Maybe some touch up paint.

Hey, you wouldn't happen to be in real estate business in SF huh? Yeah, I would wait. I've got 2 nice screw marks on my back bumper from someone's license plate screws, Long fairly deep scratch when some a$$ keyed my passenger door and a nice shopping cart ding on the rear passenger door.

I cant really tell how bad the dents are, but if the bumper isnt dented too bad i would suggest you just take it to a detailer who can take most of that out with an abrasive compound and some polish, and you can fill in the chipped paint with touch up paint.
For touch up paint fill the chip in with a lot of paint, enough so that it bubbles outside of the dent, then go back when it is dry and wet sand it down flush, and then polish/buff to get shine back.
hope that helps. G/L

If you live and drive in SF, and that's the only scratches you have, that's pretty darn good.

There you go! Listen to the Pro.

If you fix it now, it might happen again down the road, then you'll be really mad.

wait till u see what 12 yrs of sf street parking will do to your car.. of which none are self inflicted.... it hurt so bad because 2 weeks after u paint it, some dim wit will inevitably mark it up again. then it's like and then to urself for even bothering.

Bummer - had this happen to me too many times!

Get some mild abraisive (polishing) paste/liquid and rub the scratches out (rub the chipped area also). You'll be amazed how well this removes scratches/dirt/paint (from the other SOBs car)! Then apply some wax - you should be able to get 50%-90% of the damage out this way.

I'm very meticulous about my IS (wife's that is) and fix even the most minor matters.

I've had far worse than this and fixed them myself. I'm not a body shop or paint person either. I'm in the "oil bidness".

Go to the dealership and get some touchup paint. These minor things are good to start with, you'll be amazed at what touchup paint, compound, wax and some elbow grease can do!

You'll only get better for the worse things unless someone actually pushes your bumper, doors, fenders, etc in.

Besides, there is a certain amount of self reward when you fix it yourself and then look at the extra cash in your pocket.

Cheers,
Old Oiler
