Default For those who live around snow.

I'm planning to take a trip up to tahoe/reno around christmas. I need advice from those who live in a snowy state or country or have traveled through snow with their ISx50. I'm planning to put on a bra. Anyone else have ideas?

Snow is nothing dude, don't worry about it. I would worry about getting tires that would work in snow.

i'm thinking about chaining it up. Tires too expensive for a 3 days in snow.

Canada used to snow before global warming, though I am in a 250 awd, all you really need in snow are working tires. I don't get what the bra and stuff would do for you but is it deep constant snow?

Maybe you should just rent a car?

Get some serious tires for your snow ride! Chains are only a good help on really deep snow and ice. You can´t travel on mixed snowy/wet surfaces with chains on all the time at long distance. And you surely don´t want to put them on an off every few miles.

if you have a set of all seasons, sand bags in your trunk, and feather the throttle, you should be fine

I wanted to rent a car, but i'm only 19. I wouldn't know how deep the snow would be until i get up to tahoe so i got to be prepared. The bra is avoiding rock chips. I went to Tahoe with my camry and got a rock thrown at my bumper. So i'm not going to risk it.

you should be fine, just get a set of all season tires (or snow tires if you want to use them specifically, then take them off when u return to warmer areas)

and as for the bra.. you'd get rocks thrown at u on less snowy roads, like dry dirt and gravel roads.. not snow covered ones

Yeah, i know. And plus i want the bra because I'm going to be traveling for 4-5 hours straight.

ohh well then that would help^^

if your traveling that far i really dont recommend chaining the tires, unless you think your going to be hitting arctic conditions... i dont know where.. RENO is lol, but im from New York and last winter we had some pretty bad storms and my 250AWD handled it very nicely even with the stock tires.. if you have summer racing flat run tires you'll be in for some trouble, but getting a set of snow or all season for the trip, then just storing them somewhere for similar occasions would probaly be your best bet

About tires n stuff i wouldn't know what to say but as for tape on the front is highly recommended. last season i decided to go to reno and tahoe for a weekend and since the weather was sunny i didnt bother to put tape on the front of my car. HUGE MISTAKE! Since there was a crap load of salt on the ground still it ended up putting pits all over my front bumper. I only had the car for 5 months but after the trip it looked like 4 years worth of rock chips . This season im planning to buy a full front bra for my car just for the tahoe trips.
