Change to 2008 Cashmere Interior!
Some of you might have been following my thread about me wanting black carpeting with the cashmere seats. When I first saw the cashmere, it was in a used car. The car had marks on the carpet just from people sitting in it in the parking lot. When I saw the sterling interior with black carpeting, I thought, "Why can't they do that with cashmere?"
Well, Lexus has taken my advice. They have decided to make a change to all of their 2008 cashmere interiors because of me! Seriously, my salesman just read to me a memo from the company.
It said that due to significant customer complaints about soiling of the cashmere carpet, all '08's would now have black carpeting, black floor mats, and black seat track covers.
I think it's a change in the right direction. The memo also said that there would be a few more with the cashmere until they make the changeover. I don't know if it only affects the IS250 or all Lexus vehicles. The good news is that black is what I'm going to get!

Your pretty lucky then. I wanted mine with a black carpeting too, easier to clean and actually looks pretty good. I guess i'll just have to settle with my black all weather mats.

That's the same information I got from my dealer. I agree that it is a good change. Not only is the black carpet easier to keep clean, I think it looks better as well. I think the changeover has been completed. My IS with black carpet is a 2008 (manufactured Oct 2007.)

When you told me that your dealer said something about the complaints of soil and stuff, I wanted to make sure that it was for every car. When I first talked to my dealer and to the regional manager, they were still seeing the cashmere and didn't know about the change. I'm so glad it's official for all new ones from now on.
I bet you're really glad that it's black with all of that beautiful red rock around your state! Most of the time it's no problem for us, but we get some real torrential downpours here and those days we'll be happy we have the black.

There were no changes in 2008 interior colors. There was no memo about carpet soiling. Your dealer is full of it. Basically, you can put any color floor mat you want, in there.

You guys are funny.
It wasn't an original change. In fact, the memo mentioned that some would still arrive with the cashmere carpeting that got through before the changeover. After that, they'll all be black.
I like the look of the black carpeting, but I have to say, I really loved the look of the all cashmere too. It just wasn't practical for us. Just an insight to how this car is going to be used, my husband loved the car, wanted a MT, but made sure to measure the trunk to see if his golf clubs would fit easily. I don't want to make any of you cringe, but this car is going to be used, and probably not cleaned as much as most of you would clean it. My husband ordered the cashmere, and I know he wasn't being a realist when it came to the enterior.
ecr527, I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did the new door sills cost you and where did you purchase them?

not what I wanted to hear
I don't like that at all and I will be trading my 07 due to it being wrecked. I have cashmere with black all weather mats now and like it but the all black carpeting just doesn't look right with the cashmere seats. I guess I better hurry and try to trade soon.
