Default 1st Drag race in the 350 1/8th mile

Opinions wanted. Best time was 8.801 @ 82 mph. This is slow. I was disappointed. STAT's Reaction- .0298 60ft-2.017 1/8th- 8.801 @82mph 3/4 tank of gas- full interior + spare tire - intake-axle back HKS.
Not much wheel spin. And by far I was the fastest import at the track. But still slow to me. This is only good for @ 13.6 in the 1/4. This is like having the slow go-cart at the race track.(everyone just passes you by)

So you are disappointed that your car is only about 1/2 second faster than the magazines report?

Just get some more practice in and I'm sure the times will improve a little. also small mods will only take you so far on a NA motor unless you go NOS.

arent those times pretty standard....lose another 1/2 tank of gas and get rid of the spare and jack.
also do the gernby thins and swap out your rear tires with some 255/35/18 for better gearing

Ya racing the IS-350 without much of a horsepower increase feel and is pretty slow for me too... My go-kart (80horsepower) does 0-100 in 6 seconds.

I didn't swap my front tires out. I just increased the air pressure to about 45 PSI in the front to reduce rolling resistance. The guy who put the 2 spare tires (donut) on the front was RoRo. Personally, I thought that was a dangerous setup since those tires aren't designed for those speeds.

what are you talking about?? all I said was to remove the jack and spare for weight reduction. nothing about putting them on the front.. or replacing front tires.. just replacing the rears with the 255/35 instead of the stock 255/40...

Dude your 60' time is great. You had 3/4 tank of gas. Also, what was the temp and Density altitude for you that day.

your 1/8th mile is faster than most cars out there. Especially mustangs and crap like that, that all run in the 9's.

I guess you misspelled "thing" when you said "do the gernby thins". I thought you were talking about the "thin" wheels and tires that RoRo used for his fronts. LOL

Yeah the weather wasn't the best. Temp was 75 and dew points in the mid 60's. So the RH% was in the 90's. I think the Alt. is @ 800 feet. I'll let you convert it to DA. My 330' mark was 5.7003. It looks like I got a good launch but who knows what happened after that. Plus I was feeling a dead spot in the power band @ 3800-4000 rpm. My wideband was always in the mid 10's to 11.0.
This is horribly rich! I never saw anything above 11.2 A/F at WOT

This is a rough guess as I don't know exactly when you did your run or even where you did your run, but for NC at 4pm yesterday the Density Altitude at 800ft elevation was approximately 2029ft! Not very good for making power and you still hit a good 1/8. Check out my drag strip journal in my signature and compare other peoples runs with similar Density Altitudes. You won't be so disappointed.
