i say leave it also. i dont think 30 some pounds will make that big of a difference in mpg. cause .__ mpg improvement vs. that one time u might have to get towed =/

Why would anyone want to remove the spare and jack in a day-to-day driving environment??? These aren't Formula 1 cars, and the amount of fuel you are ever going to save is negligible. If you want to drive lighter go to the gym and lose 30 lbs. That way you'll live longer, and drive longer.

Yeah, this is absolutely crazy to me. Seems to me if you're thinking of removing the spare to save gas, then you probably bought the wrong car.

I figure you could save about $5.00 per year on fuel. Well worth it in exchange for the hassle of not having a spare!

So what are your plans for when you "god for bid" pick up a nail on the way to school and come out of class to a flat???

Are you going to call AAA for a flat bed tow truck??

BTW - which 4 of you voted to take it out???

The only Lexus with NO SPARE are the newer SC430's, because they come with Run Flats!!
Some of our very own newer SC430 members convert the spare compartment back to a 2001 SC430, which holds a spare tire...

Default Got a question

If I got a flat on my 20" wheels (knock on wood), will the spare work or will the car be tilted too much that I cant drive it with the spare?

I actually have mine out right now because I forgot to put it in when I was doing my XM Radio install.

This thread reminds me to put it in. I work 5 miles away so I'm not in a hurry to put it in. If I was going on a road trip then for sure it would be in.

idk man, getting a flat is one of those un-expected things. like just because ur tires are new doesnt mean they cant hit a nail or get cut by something on the road. i think you should just keep it in to be safe. n that way u dont gota bother ur friend =)
