Default Sub 2.0 60 feet times

Hey guys, I just came back from Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin. 50 degrees 5 and 50% humidity today. Stock everything including interior. Even have a small toolbox, water bottles, baby seat and dry cleaning in the car, floormats and trunkmat. I weight about 190 lbs too. Obviously, I have the spare tires etc. Started at 1/2 tank of gas. Stock Dunlop tires. The treads are getting thinner - I swap them with my winter tires so the Dunlops have probably seen about 12,000 miles. Tire pressures were not adjusted or lowered. The air filter is pretty old now - over 20,000 miles (stock air filter). The rims are standard 18's. No lowered or sport suspension. Just a run of the mill IS350 premium package.

In any case, I got a few runs in and all the runs were very consistent. My top 4 results:

60 feet: 1.956 1.980 1.984 1.969
1/4 time: 13.459 13.447 13.444 13.448
trap: 102.41 103.08 102.57 102.23

There were some others that I did not put in because they were "outliers". I spun out wildly in one because I didn't do a slight burn out. Another run I brake launched too high and spun right side I believe. It seems the best way to launch for me today was to brake launch a little to remove slack in the drivetrain but not too much or else too much spin off the line.

Interesting note: There was a 335 coupe there. He ran 13.8xx automatic with a 103.xx trap. However, his 60 feet was like 2.2xxx and he did not burn out or take off his traction control. It was his first day at the track and it was only his first run. My guess is that we are pretty close and the one to launch first will always win. One of my outliers with a 2.1xx 60 feet ended up at 13.6xx at 102 or so mph.

Previous best was 13.8xxx at 101 over a year ago. I'm pretty happy to have knocked off .4 seconds with more junk in the trunk and more fuel!

One final note/question: Do you guys really think lowering tire pressure is going to improve traction and give me sub 1.9xxx 60 feet times?

Oh, mm HG is 29.87 so density works out like -440 feet!!! No wonder I ran so fast today! Also, I have 23,000 HARD miles on my IS350. It's over 2 years old.

very nice times! lose the weight and drop some rear tire pressure next time.. you will have the fastest known stock time for an IS350.. if you dont already..

very good runs man. I think these are great times! I think caymandive hit some sub 2.0 60's today also.

Keep it up, I see some 13.2xx's in your future.

Thanks combilter. I just went on to dragtimes and noticed that my 13.444 could be the fastest TOTALLY stock time for IS350 AND 335i. Not that I'm trying to start something with the BMW guys... Now I'm kicking myself in the butt for not leaving the water, booster seat, drycleaning, tools, and some gas at home! Probably had about 50 pounds of unecessary weight!! That would be like having 5-6 more HP!!!

Another oddity today was that in the previous 2 attempts at drag racing, my first run was always the fastest and then downhill from then on. Also, the best times were when I just simply mashed the gas. Today, I had good runs the whole time. My first 2 runs were actually slower because I didn't launch it right - 2.0xx and 13.6 and 13.5. I barely brake torqued. After that, I had good run after good run. Even near the end, after sitting at the line for 5 minutes idling (the car before me busted something and they had to clean up the track), I pulled off a 13.5. In all, I got like 10 runs in 40 minutes today. No stopping or shutting off at all today! It was just up and down the track. I did noticed that my fan would turn on and off at times while staging. The times my fan was trying to cool the car, I'd get a 13.5 or so. Very consistent today.

I got beaten by a CLS55. He ran a 12.3 totally stock. I did beat one of those pontiac WS6's - faster ET and trap. I got beat by a C5Z06 - but surprisingly not by much - I had a better 60 feet time than him.

I might just have to go again next week to see if I can do better...

That time is unheard of for stock, even IF your altitude and temp played so high to your advantage. Regarding tire pressure, I ran 29 in the rear and 50 up front. Got my fastest time in 2 tries this weekend, with a 13.58, corrected time is around 13.3 I believe. Here are some pics and vids:

I wouldn't call that slow. You really need to know what the density altitude is and climate. That could turn your 14.1 into a mid 13! Here's a good link:

using the web site you provided, my corrected time is still 13.4 with a trap of 102.9 The elevation I found for the track is 626. So, going back to what I said, I had pretty good conditions yesterday!
