Trade-In ISx50

New M3 for sure. I love my IS350, but as stated before, the squeaks and rattles have turned me off Lexus. My brother and my brother in law have BMWs and have never had the service problems some talk about here. That said, I love my IS in all ways except for the objectionable noises have to deal with daily, in a car that in Canada cost me over $60,000.

I'm thinking about trading in for a Range Rover Sport. Need a SUV to tow a boat with, kids, still want something that's not a land yacht. But people with their BMW reliability stories can't touch the bad stories of Land Rover. I may pick up a lease so I can get out of it should problems arise.
I have a 250 MT. Clutch is crap. I don't have rattles but the car just doesn't do it for me. I want a true sports car (GTR, Lotus, Porsche), and any other car is just a car. My lexus is a nice car but just doesn't get the blood rushing so I don't see much difference between it and other cars. Someone posted their manual tranny gets terrible MPG, man that's probably the only thing from me trading mine in at 30+MPG lifetime over 43k miles...

This is with starts at about 1200-1500 RPM, and shifting at about 3000-4000 RPM. I hit the orange tach ring exactly once per day (on a super-steep hill on the way home) and can count on one hand the number of times I have redlined it. I can't think of anything else to do to improve my MPG.

My wife and daughter are going to have to duke it out for this car when I'm ready to move on (probably when my wife's Accord lease ends in 2yrs). I'll probably move on to something slightly larger (M45, GS430, etc.). Maybe I'm lucky, but not much here in the rattle dept and it has nearly 17k on it. But, I probably drive it like an old lady compared to the rest of you. I think this car is a near perfect blend of affordable luxury/performance. My biggest complaint is the overboosted steering. Even the Accord is better in that dept.

Jesus! 13 mpg for 250 manual? That's like bad engineering. What was Lexus thinking? Esp with SF crazy traffic it must be a nightmare to drive manual and put a huge dent in your wallet.
That's me. The trip computer for "tank average" has been at 13.0 for the past couple of days, and my "lifetime" gas mileage was 15.3 as of this morning. Premium in SF is hovering near $4.00/gallon right now, if it hasn't already crossed over, so my next fill up should be fun.

I totally understand. Oddly enough, it took a Cadillac commercial (the one that goes "When you turn your car on, does it return to favor?") to open my eyes to what I feel I may be missing.

By the time the GTR comes out, and the fad dies down a little, the IS will have an even smaller trade in value.. you would barely cover the downpayment of the tires by that time on the 80k+ car.
