I don't pay attention to what they said about lexus, because I love my lexus. however, there are several thing that I'm consufused:

Is it a G37 or G35? I beleived G37 right? They comparing the older model?

I wonder y they didn't list all the spec of all car and base on those spec compare? I read that article and one car they list: weight, torque, horse power, 0-60...etc, one car doesn't have weight, etc...how do they call a comparation? Do they have to compare point by point?

It just goes to show in these kinds of test how much the subjective scores affect the overall rating. They ranked Lexus last in "Overall Function" (whatever that means), ranked it last in exterior design, and tied for last in interior design. I looked at a lot of cars before purchasing my Lexus and think the interior and exterior designs are the best in the class.

The Edmunds testers really seemed to be won over by the low sticker price of the Infiniti. Perhaps they could have tested a Lexus that was lighter on the options. An IS350 with a $48k sticker is pretty loaded.

Interesting to see they mentioned the transmission. I drove, for the first time, my g/f's IS350 (after installing her Tanabe exhaust) this past weekend and felt compared to her G35 Coupe (5AT) the transmission was not near as smooth or responsive. It did seem to feel like it lagged just a bit as mentioned here. I thought maybe it was just in my head since I have not seen it mentioned here, but I guess these guys picked up on it too.

Never magazine race with Edmunds. That magazine is incompetent. This is not a *new* position since this review but a long standing one years and years before I bought an IS350. Its has also been generally agreed upon by many enthusiasts boards I visit (at least until say a G35 owner reads an article like this and their opinion flops and they use it to bash their rivals for years)… aka how the internets work.

If you want good solid reviews of a car, read the C&D reviews. Even if a C&D comparison came out the same way, I would trust in 1000 times more. Edmunds still have like a 13.3 quarter on an IS-F and is comparing it with others. As compared to C&D with what was it a 12.6. C&D tests are scientifically sound in their methods. Edmunds even tells you that they don’t power launch automatics off the line in a drag

I'm sure there are probably other reviews out there that place Lexus higher.

Looking at the performance numbers alone (well, since this is a sports sedan comparison)...

The IS350 is:

2nd in 0-60 mph time
2nd in 1/4-mile time
3rd in 1/4-mile speed
last in 60-0 mph braking
2nd in Lateral Acceleration (335i is last)
4th in 600-ft slalom

Yet, it has been knocked on lacking the "feel"!!!

Talking about a biased comparo...

C'mon guys. If they had placed the IS350 first or second, you'd all be singing their praises. Edmunds acknowledged that the cars in the comparison test are all great choices, and that they are seperated by very little. Let's unbunch our panties and take it for what it is - a subjective review of nice sport sedans. I'd be proud to drive any of the cars in that test.
