Default Aftermarket HID kits

I'm thinking about getting some HIDs for my 2006 IS250.

1. What kits are there?
2. How easy are they to install?
3. How much are they?
4. I'm going for a hyper-white, slightly blue-ish tinge. 6000K or 8000K?

I know about the MTEC kits, but I don't know how they compare in performance/price to others.

Thanks in advance!

To answer your questions:
1- There are several brands of HID kits available from different manufacturers.
2- It depends on which kit you end up buying, the easier ones to install have the ballasts and ignitors integrated into one unit and don't require you to run any wires to the battery.
3- It depends on the kit you get, expect to pay anywhere from $135.00 to $800.00+ for some brands.
4- 6000K

Several members of the forum have purchased the MTEC kits, so they can probably tell you how good they are. I purchased an Xtec kit for my fogs and it was cheap, easy to install and has a lifetime warranty on all parts, including the bulbs. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Along with the MTEC kits, a number of members buy from xenondepot.
I got mine off the group discount, and ended up getting the 6500k xtreme HIDs. I really really like them, really sharpens the image of the car at night...
A few people will tell you that the higher you go...the less light output there is, I found that to be somewhat false, my 6500k put out as much as the stock halogens.

Well, that's if you compare with the 4300k stock xenon you get from the manufacturer. the 4300ks are the ones that produce most output. The higher you go past 4300k, the less light output. But, you can't compare with halogens. Halogens are not bright, their light output is visibly less than any standard 4300k.

Hmmm... looks like the MTEC and XenonDepot Xtreme kits are about the same price. I was looking at some other threads/forums... do I need to change the reflector in my headlight also? How long does the install take... about 2 hours?

Not sure about changing the reflectors, but I dont think you need to change them.
As for the install, There are alot of DIY threads on how to change them but ur better off to have someone install them. It's safer and quicker. I live in the 909/951 area and have found a couple of places that will install them for 60 bucks.

Hello,

As per your questions:

1) Your vehicle uses an H11 bulb for the low beams meaning that you would need to order an H11 HID conversion kit for the low beams. This kit will not require you to modify your headlight in any way. Our kits come with custom moulded H11 bases that will literally plug into your vehicle's headlamps.

2) Colour Temperature - As some members have already stated, the higher you go in terms of colour temperature the more colour you get however the less actual useable light output you obtain. I would suggest going for a 6500k kit if you want a bright white output with a very sligh bluish/purplish tinge.

3) I cant speak on behalf of Mtec however the Xtreme kit uses Japanese bulbs and ballasts to ensure both quality and durability. The ballasts used in this kit are specifically designed for aftermarket HID applications as they are epoxy sealed to ensure that they are water tight.

4) The Xtreme kit comes with a legitimate one year warranty. The reason I underline legitimate is because a warranty is only as reliable as the vendor selling the product. We have been a supporting vendor on this forum for years now. We have numerous kits to CL members, so you know that you are dealing with a legitimate company with repuable products. You really need to be careful when buying online.

5) Our H11 6500k kit is currenlty priced at $224.99. Please view this lin:

http://www.kbcarstuff.com/H11_6500k_...xt-65k-h11.htm

Now is actually a great time to buy... we are giving away 4 free HID kits for the months of november and December. Visit our new website - www.KBcarstuff.com for more information.
