Default Tire pressure Monitors

Do the monitors tell you the pressure in each tire or only when they are low? I had an alert saying low pressure, but it didn't tell me which tire or the pressure. I didn't know if this was like the monitors in the vettes.

Thanks

Just when it's low... this is one area I really feel like Lexus cheaped out a bit, not reporting individual pressures.

No, they neither report the actual pressures nor specify which tire(s) are low.

Have you guys noticed that the sensors are wireless? The receiver sensor is located in the car stereo HU and attached to wire back to instrument panel. There is another receiver for rear wheels. I wonder if the transmitter requires small batteries.

Yes, they use batteries... non-replaceable IIRC... supposed to last 10 years though

Wow, I was expecting a little more from Lexus. Might as well just put an old man in the trunk to kick the tires before I start it and give me a thumbs up or thumbs down.

Thanks guys for your info.

You really shouldn't rely on the TPMS to tell you when air is needed regularly.
Its good for slow leaks, nails, etc, etc...

Everyone that owns a car should either check their own or find a shop that will check them for you..

ONCE A MONTH DIY is HIGHLY Recommended!!

Especially in a winter climate where pressure goes down 1 lb for every 10 degree drop.

My thoughts, exactly. Lexus makes you check all 4 which is what you SHOULD do in the first place. Genius, really.

Well, if we could get real time numbers @ all corners that would be much more useful......even if we could only check them when the car is stopped, the parking brake is on, the wipers are off, (fill in other annoying nanny feature here).....

Or how about this....when the electronics cycle on startup, the display quickly shows you the pressure of each tire?

Yeah, even GM offers real-time tire pressure info for the individual tires on at least some of their cars... the lack of this is pretty glaring in a Lexus at this point

Well I gotta say the 1st time I needed this system to work and it did its job perfectly..

Friday morning 5:30am , just getting ready to leave for work and when I started the car > I got the low tire pressure warnings..

At first I was like man, I just checked all the pressures last week, what could be the problem??
I do a quick visual check of all 4 tires and again nothing..

So I take out my trusty gauge and start checking each tire.. 35, 38, 35 and then of course the last one i check on the rear passenger side was 25..

After some more insepecting I found a nice screw right in the tread..
I ended up just heading to the gas station and topping the tire off with air, since I can tell the screw wasn't going anywhere and the air leak was slow.

FU to who ever drops screws on streets....
