my idle is up now that its getting colder out. i dont think it takes that long but im on the expressway in minutes so it warms up quickly. sounds like its weather but if its not then i would have it looked at.

Hmmm, thats a new one. I havent read of anyone mentioning that before. I wouldnt worry too much about it, I doubt anything it terribly wrong, but Ill check mine in the morning and see what it does. I have never really paid attention.

Default Normal

Every car I've owned has done this. Don't know anything about the lexus (g35 guy), but maybe you have a cold start injector switch. It keeps the revs up until the engine approaches normal operating temperature. Some say it's for emissions (a hot engine=less emissions)

Whatever the case, don't worry it's normal in colder weather

that is perfectly normal. i think our cars are smart when it comes to first start up. i live in NC and it can get pretty cold in the fall/winter. in the morning when the car first starts up its at 2k and it drops to about 1750 then to 1500. this happens within a minute. then there's this sweet spot where it drops to about 1000-1200rpms and thats when i go. i take that as a signal that the oil is pumped up and its running through the engine, etc. etc. so i take off, slow of course. and on very cold mornings it doesnt want to shift into a higher gear, it tends to hold it in a lower gear. i guess because its trying to warm up as soon as possible due to cold weather? to prevent engine damage and it also wont switch into 6th gear on the highway until the temp is about 1/8-1/4 warm.

The colder it gets outside the longer it takes for your idle to come down
