Looking back at what the fallout has been, you should have hired a lawyer experienced in traffic court. When you need medical help, go to a doctor; when you need legal help....
A lawyer probably could have gotten the charge reduced to something without all those harsh penalties. Usually it's truck drivers who need their licenses to work, or DUI offenders, who will go to a lawyer. Watch out if you drive while your license is suspended, becauese you may thereafter be ineligible for a hardship license, depending on the laws in your jurisdiction.
You might want to talk to a lawyer ASAP about withdrawing your plea, if you PLEAD guilty. It didn't work for Sen. Larry Craig, but in your state, in traffic court, with the right lawyer, prosecutor and judge, it might work. But if you had a TRIAL, and the judge found you GUILTY, then you're probably stuck.
GTI-Dan is a d***wad. And if Dan liked his grown-up self so much, he wouldn't have to get some fleeting satisfaction by kicking you when you're down.

I'd just as soon live on my own and drive a cheaper car if I were in the same situation, but you know what's best for you. Priorities are individual.

How do you know his parents aren't making him pay rent to begin with? My parents did that when I stayed at home in the summers during college.
