Get a lawyer, they might get you off with court fees only. Well thats usually how it is in FL, not sure about cali. I hear they are more strict over there.

I'd love for you to go to court and explain to the judge that the officer was wrong because your speedo ring isn't set to go off until 60. Could you please do so and then report back?

At the hearing see if you could donate the money for the ticket to a charity of some kind.... Also if you don't have a radar detector you should put one on your christmas list!!!

I don't understand... if your speedo ring didn't light up yet you were still going at most 59, which is still, alas, speeding?

At his age it is better to just slow down rather to continue speeding and try to beat the system.

I got 100 in 70 driving back home on the I5 last year and it was only a $430 fine, so if it's true, it'd have to have been passed since then.

If 20 over speed limit is a felony here in Nevada, I don't know what they're going to do to enforce it. Most people drive at least 80-85 on the freeways here all the time (so long as traffic allows). Speed limit is 65, but the freeways here are huge, wide lanes, well-maintained, etc.

Just to clarify, it's dependent on the wheel size, not the rim size... for example, switching between the stock 225/45R17s and the option 225/40R18s should be basically the same size tires so it'll be the same tire rotations per speed. Now of course if we went up to 225/40R19s (like the IS-F) we'd start getting a few mph over what the speedometer shows.

This example is of course assuming that the front tires are what determines the speed (I really have no idea).

Your correct. Going from lets say a 15" wheel to 18" wheel is a 3" difference. So someone going "80mph" on 18s would be going around 85-90mph. You MPH is a little bit off, but not that much. 3" up in size is about what half if not most of the CL members move up to.

Actually, it's not that hard to fight a ticket, you just have to know the best options and techniques to successfully fight and win. I highly recommend that you all check out ticketassassin.com I had a very good friend use the recommendations on that web site, and literally wore the court system down until his ticket was dismissed.

Take that "orange speedo" story to court, maybe you can get a few mph knocked off the ticket.

Traffic school in Jersey only eliminates two points.
Your ticket is a 4 pt ticket in Jersey but if you only have 2 pts on your license, there usually isn't a insurance surcharge.
