OP,
Did you try going to insurance websites and getting a quote? That might be better since not everyone will be around your age, location, driving experience, mileage, etc

Not really comparable without knowing deductibles and coverage limits.

Just call your insurance company and ask for a quote because there are just to many variables such as age, record, where you live and etc.

And geographic area. Coverage for the same car and driver in rural parts of Iowa or Idaho is going to be a fraction of the cost of an equivalent policy in a high crime metropolitan area of New Jersey or Washington DC.

Yes, assuming he is shopping for comprehensive coverage and not just liability.

Keep in mind that some companies also consider your credit score when determining your rates.

No, geographic region affects all parts of auto insurance, not just comprehensive.

Areas with more traffic and congestion experience higher accident rates, thus more payouts on liability and collision.

Even the way that each state administers its "assigned risk pools" (the coverage that really bad drivers who can't get insurance in the voluntary market can buy) affects insurance costs for everyone. Insurance companies are forced to provide coverage for the assigned risk drivers they are assigned, at premiums levels set by the state. If the state sets up the assigned risk pool in such a way that insurers lose money covering them, that raises the costs for everyone else buying insurance in that state.
