"Basic liability coverage" is significantly cheaper, but offers almost no protection for those with significant assets. Insurance cost comparisons without knowing liability limits has limited value.

i knew looking at this thread is a real bad idea lol. i'm 26, live in miami and paying >$300/month. i've had speeding tickets before but that's almost normal for everybody. had geico before, quotes from state farm and allstate for ridiculous amount and now have progressive. i wonder what's wrong.

I'm 18 and pay $395/6 months with a local company in Chicago for an '07 IS350. Lowest rate I can find, it's just liability though. Allstate wanted $600 a MONTH for full coverage but with that amount, I can afford. At that cost, I can buy a used '07 BMW 335i in under 3 years.

With my 250AWD (which I no longer have), I initially paid $115 a month with State Farm. I paid this for about 2 years. Then I moved into a "more dangerous area", which actually was in the country so this is BS. They decided to raise my rates up to $145 a month. I called and complained, and they said I can raise my deductible, which would bring my monthly payment down to $130.
I get the new premium information in the mail. They sure did lower my monthly deductible fee. BUT, they raised the fee on EVERYTHING ELSE! So instead of paying $130 or even $145, I was paying like $155 a month!!!!!!! So I like "F THIS" and I went to All State and told them my story. They were very happy to help me and got me down to $100 a month!! YES!
Ok, so I traded in my 250AWD for a 350AWD while under All State and my monthly payment went from $100 to $105. Not bad at all!
My coverage, IIRC, is 300/100/100, $1000 deductible on collision and $500 on comprehensive and no extra daily rental coverage.
I'm 28, no points or accidents and I drive about 40 miles round trip to work 4ish days a week.

I did it through the GEICO website. They did give me the best quote though, I was on my parents all state account before and they tried bending me over at like 800-900/6 months. It was pretty stupid, espcially since I had a good track record with them.
FYI - If you get a speeding ticket, take it to a lawyer to get the points removed. Its worth the price since you'll end up paying thousands in insurance premiums over X years.
