I called Lexus and complained that there was an error on the map on my Navi and because of the error it took me 44 miles out of my way. The rep was really nice and said he would send this to a specialist in this area. The specialist called me back the next day, and asked me to explain to her what happen. I gave her the whole story and the location were it happen, this was about 2 weeks ago. She called me back yesterday and said Lexus was going to update it for free, she told me call my dealership (Lexus of Orlando) she had already talked to the service manager. I called the dealership they said if I could stop by anytime after 3:30 they would take care of it. I stopped on the way home from work and about 20 mins later I was out of there. It's great not having that stupid "I Agreed" button anymore. And that's what I call good customer service, I am very pleased with Lexus.

how often do they release new updates? how would we know when or if they are available?
also, the new update allows for the "I agree" button to be an option? I'm surprised Lexus would disable that for you.
I want an update too!

The update would have cost $299.00 and then the dealership charges $60.00 to install it. So yeah that was the best 44 miles I drove out of my way. As far as I know they release a new DVD every year and the "I Agreed" is gone there is no option to have it or not have it.

It's good they updated it for you, but I wouldn't have driven 44 miles out of my way just because the Nav told me to. It's a guide, not an infallible map. The final decision of which route to take under current conditions remains with the driver. Lexus did you a favor, but they were under no obligation to do so.

I would only do an upgrade every 2-3 years for that cost.

Yeah, you can buy a whole entire GPS with that years maps on it for less than that cost every year... just another reason I went aftermarket.
Realistically though it doesn't cost Lexus anywhere NEAR that much for the "free" disc they gave him... Garmin only gets like $75 for new maps each year and you can bet they're still turning a profit on em too.
Wasn't there a TSIB on the older GPS maps thinking you're way off from where you actually are though? If that's the case then it -should- have been free anyway.

I use my Nav a lot and I've noticed a lot of missing updates, I want the update done. Has anyone tried "boot legging" a copy of the Nav update? I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering.
Sorry to thread-jack lexusscguy, thanks guys!

I don't know why anyone would pay a dealer $60 to basically insert a DVD disc into a slot...
