My IS250AWD in 30 degree temps upon a cold start sounds like a diesel engine when accelerating and idling ( I know the normal sound of the injectors and this is not it). Are any of you in cold climates experiencing this? I talked to a service advisor and I was told this is normal and is due to lower specs of the engine in terms of idle speed.

i heard that because of the direct injection it has that little tick tick tick when running. kind od disappointing but thankfully inside you hear nothing.
on startup if you have a 1-2 second real bad clatter then there is a tsib for this.

I know our cars have direct injection and make a clicking sound in all weather conditions. But whens its cold the engine is audible inside the cabin and when accelerating it sounds like a diesel truck. It sounds like piston slap.

How long does the sound last (miles, minutes, etc)?
Mine is definitely noticeably louder on cold days before it warms up; I just take it easy for 5-10 miles/minutes (whichever comes first), and it sounds normal once warm.
