Knowing Lexus, they'll probably just come out with new headlight (likely smoked) and taillight designs for the 2IS for 2009 and maybe fix minor flaws. I can see new style stock rims but that's about it.

This is why I did not mind buying the first year (2006) IS350 because I know the 2010 or 2011 IS350 would be 90% identical to mine, just with new headlights, taillights and wheels.

If the forecast was 44,000 a year, they've exceeded that already.

I wonder what the update will be. Actually I like the rear of the 2IS a lot, Lexus should've upgraded the 3GS rear, seems sometimes the rear section is not Lexus' strength but the IS looks very distinctive.

For upgrades, I kinda wish they did something to make the interior seem more upscale vs. the CTS and others.

The logic of Lexus styling to me is luxury sedan (ES, LS) and sport sedan (IS, GS), SUV (RX, LX) and convertible ([IS], SC). A buddy of mine was looking at the ES, but for the fully loaded price he opted for a BMW 5-Series. He stated the LS was way overpriced. I had to agree. Even the prior model-year ES looked bigger next to the prior model year LS in my parking lot. I don't know what it will take to make the LS that much better than the ES. Maybe much bigger, gold and silver electroplating, with more rain forest and cow skin.

Really, what's left on the LS that hasn't trickled down to the ES already, that justifies the price premium? There just isn't $15K, $20K, $25K or more car, to me and apparently alot of other consumers, the same problem the GS has over the IS. Those numbers tell the story.
