Default 31k Good deal or not

I was quoted a 2008 red IS250 Manual with 18" Wheels w/Summer Tires-$830 and floor mats-$200 as the only options for 31k OTD. My tax rate is 7%. Is this a good deal in your honest opinion??

also i want to put an after market sound system (head unit, sub+amp) in it, is it possible?? the stock radio unit is the WHOLE dash. could anyone post some pics of an aftermarket head unit please??

thanks

That's what I paid for my car in Jan 2006. Considering the base price has gone up since then, I would say that's a good deal.

It seems ok since it's an '08 but I can't help but feel like it's a bit much still. I've seen better prices but I am here in CA which is pretty much saturated with IS250's. It's just me though, if you feel like you have a good deal in your hands, go for it. I think you can get a better deal than that though.

Does that include xenon headlights? If not it seems a little high to me......

^^^ I assumed it doesn't have Xenon or the premium package (heated/ventilated seats), thats why I think it's a bit expensive.

you can do slightly better, but its decent.

I got mine 31,500 OTD.
base is250 6mt
HID AFS
18'' wheels
Accessory Package-include cargo net, wheel lock, trunk mat
asked dealer for all weather mats too.
some other lil goodies

I thought it was decent enough. I was in a rush to get a car, since school started in a week and my car broke down. but if you shop around you can always find better, just time and patience.but your actually getting the car for 28,xxx something plus tax and lic.

aftermaket headunit/sub+amp =Anything is possible, search the forum, there is a thread on aftermaket sound system, people had custom dash kits for aftermarket radios made. something ill be doing in near future

I got mine for about 29,800 OTD. But, my tax rate was 6%. I had the same options as yours and with my Taste of Lexus coupon, I really only paid 29,050 OTD.

Let us look at the deal. But, the fact that you are thinking about the stereo implies that you are already sold on this deal. Here are Edmunds' numbers:

2008 Lexus IS 250
4dr Sedan (2.5L 6cyl 6M)
MSRP Invoice
National Base Price $30,455 $26,799
FT 18" Wheels w/Summer Tires info $830 $664

The floor mats aren't listest on Edmunds
but we will use Carsdirect price, which is $100 ==> $100
Manufacturer's Destination Charge $765

So dealer invoice "cost" is $28,328 and we need to add the tax of $1,982 so we see a total of $30,311 for the invoice plus tax plus and this deal is about $700 over invoice and (ignoring the tax) approx $3,822 off of the MSRP.

In conclusion, I would say if that is exactly the car you really wanted going in then that is a good, solid deal but if you really wanted a black one with the blower seats or a white one without a sunroof and are just buying it for the deal then it isn't that great, if that makes sense.

The price is fine.

no it doesn't have xenon headlights or premium package, only the mats on the 18' wheels. The window sticker says 32,260 and they would not budge at 31K OTD. keep in mind my dealership is doing this "December to Remember sale" so they are taking 2k off right away, which will land the negotiation price at 30,260 to start with. The f-ed up part is later that day, I found another car hidden behind the dealer (same color and everything) with a dealer discounted sticker of 28988!! So I tried to negotiate more since thats what you are supposed to do with sticker prices (even offered to pay 30k cash right now), but they would not budge and said 31k otd is the final price. what should I do??
BTW how do I get the taste of lexus coupon?? anyone have a spare that they are not using??

thanks

Is this a dealer in Florida? If you can, you might want to try JM Lexus (volume dealer) or Lexus of Pembroke Pines. They're always willing to negotiate on prices. You might want to wait until the end of the month after Christmas since dealers will be itching to get their sales number as high as possible. I got the Taste of Lexus coupon by attending Taste of Lexus this year. It is a personalized coupon and can only be used in the family.
