Default Is220d???

I'm still pretty new here and my car and I have not yet celebrated it's one year delivery date yet so I hope I didn't miss this some time ago, but I just got a new iPhone (get one if you don't have one yet!) and did a search for Lexus IS on the You Tube feature to find this:

I didn't even know Lexus had considered this option. Are they in production or was this a prototype? Any word on future availability in the US?

The IS 220d is a common rail turbo diesel.
And no, not all diesel engines have turbo, for example: VW 1.9 SDI; VW 2.0SDI, Peugeot 1.9D, etc.

That's an euro version...Europe only has the 220d and the 250. Most euro cars are diesel now days. Gas is about 1.08 euro per liter...diesel costs more but you get more miles out of it....

Hello, guys

I have the turbo diesel Is220d. It's great fun to drive! Has nice torque so you don't have to change gears so much. It's a nice engine. However I regret not existing with automatic gearbox.
About gas consumption......
It's not what they tell you
It's about 8.5 liter for 100 kilometer (I do 700 kilometer to the tank)

If you see at BMW nowadays with their efficient dynamics.
They are at 5.5 liter for 100 kilometer (BMW 5 series with 2liter diesel 177bhp)

But that's what they say too...

Default IS 220d

I also have a 220d and I'm at 7,3 liter ( /100 km) when driving long distances and 7,7 in the city.

I find the torque a little dissapointing, but to be honest, somehow I don't feel the need to race every BMW (or VW Golf ;-) )at the traffic lights...

Maybe I'm just getting old, but this car is (in Europe at least) as they put it so nice in fifth gear : " the gentlemen's choice"...
