Clear bra... What do you think?
#17
I have the VentureShield (3 layers) and you can't even see the ends unless you get close and really look for them. The shine is identical to the OEM paint!

Definitely get it, or you'll have so much paint damage from rock chips and other debris, that you'll have to eventually repaint the front end (and good luck matching new paint with several year old sun faded paint). All automotive paint is water based in this day and age, and as a result is much weaker than the oil based paint of years ago. A clear bra keeps your front end paint looking brand new and undamaged (unless you get hit by an 18 wheeler), which is a well worth it.

It's definitely worth in IMO. Nobody can even tell that I have it on there until they get really close up to the car. The usual response I get is "WTF happened to your car??" Thinking it's a scratch across the hood.
A friend of mine bought a G35 around the same time I picked up my 2IS and he's been wishing he got one too. The front end of his car is torn up.

I noticed you are in deerfield beach.
Where did you get your clear bra installed? How Much? What brand?
Thanks

Get it. If you care the least bit about how your front end will look after a year or so it's worth it. My g/f skipped on this on her G35 coupe and two years later the hood was chipped to hell. The car was black and it had little white pits all over the place. On her IS, she had it installed 2 weeks after purchasing the car (earliest appointment we could get).

I bought the clear bra off of a vendor on Ebay. They used a 3M film. If you do a search on Ebay you'll easily find them, they also have local shops that they're affiliated with that could install it for you. My brother and I installed it ourselves. It's kinda like tinting a window, if you've ever done that before.

got it love it, on my 250 i had the ugliest mrk rock chip on the hood, looked like a mercedes benz sympol was taken from my hood, on my 350 go the clearbra before i left the dealer! saved me on many occasions, no chipas, bugs come right off, only drawback is the shine,i wixh there was a material that was super strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. You can't polish the paint after you install a clear bra, so it better be perfect when they go on. Driving from the dealer to the installer isn't enough - most dealers leave swirls on the car from prep that you won't see until after all wax/sealant is removed.
2. If you like to polish and wax your own car, part of it will always be covered in plastic and look at least slightly different than the rest of the car. Not a problem for many people, but a huge one for me.
3. The clear bras get marred, stained, scratched, and chipped like paint over time, and may require replacement (unless you're ok with them looking like crap). Removal and reinstallation might well cost you more than a repaint.
As you can tell, they're not for me. I just can't get over the image of a couch wrapped in plastic when I think about these things.
