Cool

to listen to your ipod, where do you go to? CD changer or AUX?

If CD changer, what if I have an audio CD inside it? So, I would guess under AUX, but what if I have an MP3 player hooked up to the AUX in the center console? Hmm.. confusing..

If you use the Lexus (Toyota) interface, you got to SAT...thats why you can no longer have SAT Radio....on the Vaistech you choose CD...you keep pressing it and it goes past the CD's and then to the iPod....So you can still use the 6 disc changer AND have an iPod interface as well as have SAT radio as well. With the Vaistech you LOSE nothing, just gain the iPod interface....With the Lexus interface, you lose the ability to have SAT radio. The Vaistech also eliminates the OK screen on startup. A cool bonus.

ic..but the vaistech is more pricey isn't it? aniwae i never use the satellite radio, so i guess I might go for the Lexus interface. I called my dealer today, they quoted me $246 for the part and $148 (abt 1 hour of labor) to install.
Is it a fair price of am I getting ripped off???

Duh, can't install this by myself, so donating mmy money to the generous dealer

So I guess the layout is more or less the same as the Vaistech right? Except it's under SAT instead of CD..got it now. Thanks Dawhole9

Vaistech is the same price...$249. You can do the install yourself and pocket the extra $150....

The issue with the Vaistech is that it wasn't non-Navi headunit friendly. No idea if they upgraded the unit but when I installed one about a year ago it would not work consistantly with the base non-Navi radio, the display would often be blank or show incorrect track and other info.

So hopefully the new Lexus iPod interface works with the non-Navi in an acceptable manner.

I see so for people with NAV units, the Vaistech may be the way and for people without the Lexus may be the way....

Default iPod interface kit

I don't know if any of you have tried building your own IS-F on lexus.com yet, but there is an option for an iPod interface kit. This option is still not available on the normal IS options list and, as far as I know, not available yet for the IS period. Any thoughts?

AVAILABLE...IN STOCK...$246 + TAX
07-08 IS/GS/ES/RX
Requires audio head unit to be satellite ready. iPOD Interface Kit conflicts with Satellite Radio Accessory. Either iPOD or Sat Radio can be installed, not both.

Anyone have this? Does it make the iPod play like a CD on the NAV screen or are we limited to playlists like the VAIStech?

It doesn't matter what format you use.
