Default I didn't know this

carchitect showed me something tonight that I haven't seen on a thread. while driving 20mph+ (forward) put the car in reverse. Your backup cam will come on while rolling forward. Nice transmission safety feature of the lex. I guess i would add a "do this at your own risk" statement on here, but there's not a risk.
--------------------
Edit: 5:53pm cst 12/23/07.
I am coming back to edit this for all the memebers that are freaking out. There is nowhere in the original thread where I am saying to go out and do this. I simply put as the title says "i didn't know this" and explained what I have witnessed and done myself.

I understand what the manual says. Thanks for quoting it. You probably shouldn't drive your car to 140mph either, or circumvent tpms, cut wires to your nav, use any wheel that is not oem, etc... but there are many stories of that.

Again, I am quoting the original thread, "do this at your own risk".

There is value in knowing that our cars have fail-safe's put into them.

(I also should clear something up, your car will go into neutral when this is done)

I really want to see if this work, but I just can't get myself to do it. It's like one of those trust exercise where you close your eye and fall backward. You know someone will catch you but theres a little hesitant on doing it.
Neat trick however.

I would only test it in a Lexus loaner.

I nominate this post for a Darwin award. http://www.darwinawards.com/

If you want the backup camera to come on while driving forward, install a switch. I believe I've seen a how-to in the searchable archives.

Darwin awards huh?

I'll do it and film it and post it for all you non-believers.

I've been on this forum for like 14months now and posted a hell lot of post. You think I am going to just post something to have a bunch of people destroy their cars.

Also, think about it either your car is going to let you do it, or it's going to stop you from putting it in reverse period.

Haha, thats not the issue, its a genetics. Putting a car in reverse while driving forward is a big no-no in male DNA *there are genetic anamolies thou *. NOW women on the other hand dont have such a genetic safeguard
