You guys crack me up. The mirrors are to big........why? Maybe to help you see.............just a guess.......I could be wrong.

When I was driving my Mercedes C-class the big complaint on the forum was this: How come the side mirrors are so small? Can't see anything.

Nobody's happy these days I guess.

Happy Holidays to all

As big as they are (which I like) there is a BAD blind spot!

visibility is poorer in this car than my previous car, so I appreciate the mirrors

The size doesn't bother me as much as the position of them. Having them back on the door, rather than the leading edge, does wonders for functionality and aerodynamics but isn't particularly attractive.

use the mirrors often or never change lanes!

Honestly I kind of see what he's saying. I generally drive a little faster than the flow of traffic here in San Diego, so I've gotten good at remembering which cars I pass and where they are in relation to me. I'm generally going fast enough that once I pass the car and they're out of my peripheral field of vision I can safely merge without looking as I'm at least half a car in front of them I do occasionally use them and check my blind spot as well just to be safe of course!

Having said that, I DO like the size of the mirrors when I do use them, especially when I get stuck in rush hour traffic on the way home from work. I'd rather have slightly larger ones as opposed to small semi-useless ones like on my friend's corolla. Wow do I hate having to drive that thing...

All I was saying is that they look huge from the outide of the car, kind of like big ***** on a greyhound. Yes, I love them from inside, they just spoil the overall size aspect ratio of the rest of the vehicle. Didn't mean to start an irresponsible driver thread, and my last reply was tounge-in-cheek.

Some people need to check-in to a Holiday Inn Express.

Lol before I got my IS, I was thinking why did they put SUV sized side mirrors on a small sedan. But it doesnt stick out that much, its pretty subtle after you get use to it (atleast for me).

Problem is most people adjust their side view mirrors to see too much behind them.

Your mirrors should be adjusted so that as a car leaves your rear view mirror, it will just start to enter your side view mirror. Cars will exit your side mirrors as they pull up next to you and should be in your peripheral vision.

I was commenting the other day on how I liked the large side view mirrors on the IS vs. the smaller side view mirrors on so many other cars.

agreed the mirros are huge but i think they look sharp on the car.

also since visibility out opf rear is so bad, it is nice to have them

Default Let's end this debate once and for all...

Basically, here is the argument:

--The side mirrors are aesthetically big, but functionally the right size.

If the side mirrors are smaller, they would be aesthetically fine, but functionally too small.

You're pucked either way...
