do what i would do. ask the dealer to fax your or email you the actual printout with the car you are looking at with the cars vin # at the top. the printout should show the exact invoice price. then go from there. if they insist that they cant give it to you or they cant show it to you, i would buy from another dealer, cuz they are full of ****. i wouldnt pay any higher then invoice in the LA area.

The dealer will ALWAYS tell you that your numbers are incorrect, even if if it's untrue. They do this so that they can get the upper hand in negotiations. It's a trick they use, nothing more. It psychologically places *you* in the position of error so that they can dominate the negotiations. I know, pretty much, ALL of the tricks they use.

The dealer I ordered my car from did the same thing. Quoted me a price above "invoice" that was different from the invoice info I had from KBB. You can try to challenge them but, unfortunately, there is no law requiring them to show you any paperwork documenting invoice. In any event, that price still sounds pretty good to me. It is a little better than I got but I ordered my car and negotiated a price 4 months ago. I think the market has deteriorated since then. If you want to play hard ball I think there is still some room for you to negotiate. But consider that even using your estimate of $37,795 for invoice you are only paying $549.00 above invoice. That is a good deal.

Anything over invoice is not good enough IMO. People are getting below invoice for IS-F in SOCAL. I think you can do a lot better in this economy. Try to shoot for 500-1000 below invoice and don't add any stupid option or plan that dealers offer. Be patience and GL!

for reference....i got my 2008 is350 at the end of october last year. keep in mind this was before the market comptely hit the bottom like how it is now. i paid 1K under invoice with no negotiating involved. get the dealer to show you what the invoice is and force them to go lower from there.

aceyou, where in CA are u frmo and what color of choice are u wanting as well? We could do a group buy.., is there anyone else out there that wants to buy a 2009 IS350? We were originally goin to buy the 250, but now that I see that the 350 can be had for about the same price, why not go for the 350.. I'm from the bay area and from looking on this board, it seems as if lots of people bought their cars with a very good price in socal... Might check it out when i am down there next month.
