What you should get, would depend on what you can afford or willing to spend. The advantage of an 09 would be that it is a brand new car. But its a 250. You're going to regret not getting the 350 because of the extra HP. It's a difference you will notice right away.

My 08 is350 with ML/X-Pac/Nav was 42g OTD...msrp was 45g and this was a year ago, yeah I know it's a 09 and redesign but is it worth that money for a is250? But seeing the economy like this, you probably can knock quite a lot off the msrp...also there isn't a lot of bodykits for the 09 so yep

I would probably go with the 06 350. That extra 106 ponies makes a world of a difference. Having one myself, yes all the TSIB's were quite an annoyance, but it's not anything that they haven't fixed at no cost to me.

haha thats what i am thinking well, well see the dilemma is
for 2006 IS 350:
the car is so flawed compared to a 09 IS 350
(traction control problem,no coin holder,no shark fin, 08/09 has improved handling)
in general the newer IS350 has so much improvements on them.
higher insurance cost
but it is FAST !!!
shark fin can be replaced by a dummy one
2009 IS 250:
basically most of the problems have been fixed and various improvements better looking dash kit
however it is a IS 250 it is way slower and can not be modded for a signficant gain of power
cheaper insurance ! and brand new!

-Traction control problem: Are you really complaining about the pedal dance? It takes about 10 seconds of your time. Besides, I get a kick out of doing it. I feel like I'm playing DDR: Lexus IS version.
-No Coin Holder: Go to container store, buy a little container, stick your pennies in there. You could even take that into the store with you!
-No Shark Fin: You can buy one and stick on there. Problem solved.
- 08/09 Improved Handling: Haven't heard about this, but you're going to want to stick sway bars on your car anyways.
-It is not "so flawed". Seriously. I drive my 350 like it was stolen about half the time, and it does it's job and doesn't complain.
Also:
-I have heard multiple 250 owners wish they had a 350 just due to no performance upgrades for our cars [that are really noticeable] and you will notice the difference between 250/350
-If money isn't such an issue, then take the 350 with the "higher insurance".
-Driving a 350 is pretty rare, even if it isn't the brand new one [which I don't particularly care for. I don't like the LED tail lights, ect.], to the point where if I see a 350 in the road, I get excited.
Just my two cents, I guess.

hey guys i been thinking about getting a 2006 IS 350 for around 26,800 MSRP ( for sure will negotiate a lower price). the car has 35,000 miles on it with luxury package + navigation + Mark levinsion sound system.
i am buying this car from a private dealership
how much do you guys think this car is worth? how much you think i can lower it?
also i am very concerned about the traction control, doing paddle dancing is able to turn it off ( it is not a rumor guys), it takes a momment to turn it off. however the traction control automatically turns back up everytime the car restarts. what do you guys think?
should i just get a brand new 2009 is 250 instead?

What is a "private dealership?" Most dealers deal to the public.
You are worried over the coin holder? That has to be one of the biggest, in the way features. All it does is collect dust and is hard to clean the inside. You should never leave any sort of currency visible in your car. It attracts theives or at least plants the idea in their head you might have more money in your car. Coin holders are just as bad of an idea as the credit card holder from the 90's.
I'd take the used 350. The 250 is weak.
Good luck!

you cant go wrong with a lexus, new or used. Id say hit autotrader and check similar cars/milage/prices print it out and take it to the dealership. I made 2 dealerships compete and my car went down $5000 from the day I first saw it to the day I got it. dont belive anyhthing they say...
On the other hand, Lexus might be one of the only companies that has some kind of leverage with used cars right now since they are selling very good compared to other brands

haha thanks karasha i am pretty convinced right now !
for yayitscola, wow i think you got a way better deal than the dealers quoted me. those bastarded tried to rip me off, because they said it was the LAST 09 lexus is 350 they had. there is no way they will lower the price for me. it was without ML too !!! and the MSRP price was 42,000. they only lowered around 1.5k for me. after tax the total price was around 44-45k. WOW those ***!!
anyways thank guys !!! guess everybody is in for the IS 350 !!!!
well by a " private dealer' , i mean hes not a lexus dealer. hes probably those dealers, that only buy used cars off other people's hands for a lowerd value and try to resell it at a higher price. its pretty much the samething as any other dealer. except they don't try to rip you off as much as the coorporation dealers do. however, i don't think the private dealers will give you a warranty, say like 1 year and in that 1 year you can change oil, get new brake pads for free. like the lexus service department does.
correct me if i am wrong
Juice14 did you also get a IS 350?

Man, correct me if I'm wrong, with the price of a brand new 09 IS250 you can easily get an 07 IS350 (with change left over) and most of your problem would be solved except for the little better handling on the 09's no?? It's a no brainer for me.

To this day, no one has been able to prove the '09's handle better than the earlier models. If anything was really done, it certainly wasn't enough to be felt or detected.
