Lexus isnt performance oriented enough to really warrant coming out with a turbo engine in any of its vehicles. They have good N/A motors that make decent power with good reliability. BTW, I see a lot of people chiming in who used to have turbo'd cars and are complaining about reliability.. noticed all Audi :-)

You know what would be awesome, a supercharger on the new IS-F! A turbo IS350 from the factory would be nice though!

Please, no FI on Lexus. Let's not even start with that topic. If I want FI, I'll go get a BMW. With the introduction of the 4.6L biturbo in addition to their existing 3.0L, it's going to be biturbo across the spectrum.

I don't really see BMW M or Lexus F as following that "bigger engines" trend. I guess that's also because I look at it in terms of how much weight said "bigger engine" adds. I mean, comparing what BMW M has done to AMG - it's a totally different story. For nearly a decade now AMG has only been about seeing how big an engine they can fit in a car. Up to the 4.3 and 3.2K was reasonable, but then 5.5, 5.5K, 6.3, and let's not even start talking about the 6.0 biturbo.

In BMW's case, the new M3's S65 is a higher-displacement V8, but at 4.0L it's very small displacement compared to its competitors, and it's still lighter than the steel 3.2L S52 I6 so in some ways I don't even consider it a "bigger engine". I really applaud BMW for going that route.

With Lexus it's a bit harder because the IS-F is the first; we can't consider history to get an idea of what lies in the future. But consider this: AMG's M113 5.5L was introduced almost 10 years ago, yet today, Lexus' first performance engine is still smaller. And I don't see Lexus going over 5L anytime in the near or even distant future; even the LF-A is supposedly a 4.8L.

A turbo or supercharger would be nice but reliablilty comes into play. With the higher compression on our engines does anyone see an ecu upgrade for the IS350/IS-F. There is a chip already out for the M3 by kellmans for about 40hp. dont know if its wheel or motor.

ECU upgrades will be even tougher. There's a lot of "black box" stuff Denso and Toyota worked on to get the direct and port injection working the way it does. There's some pretty premier researchers I've talked to who still don't quite know why it works so well, so good luck to the aftermarket guys.

That is for now, I'm willing to bet as we see more and more ppl chipping the 335i like they do on the B5 S4, the turbo lady will be knocking their doors!

i prefer n/a over turbo but i guess it seems like there is more potential with turbos. lexus probably won't use them because of the reliability issues as mentioned before. gotta go aftermarket if you want a turbo lexus...

Isn't there a rumor that lexus might use a twin turbo V-8 instead of a V-10 in the LF-A?
