I've had my car since Jul/Aug '06 and my driver's side mat has a hole in it after a year or so but the rest are fine. I thought of patching the hole but didn't do it. I went and bought a whole new set just to replace 1 mat lol.

Sounds like a great idea, I will make sure to be concious of the wear over the next couple of months. I wear boots all the time with my big clown feet, so this does not help the wear situation (LOL).

i accept the normal wear and tear for the clutch/brake/gas areas.....but the hole (see pics in post #56 & 57) is not located in any of the area mentioned above!

That really makes me wonder.....

I'm on my 2nd set of mats now given free by my cool service guy. I'm already seeing signs of wear. I'm thinking this 2nd set has about 3 months more before it wears through. What i think I'll do is go to buy a small length of vinyl grey carpet runner and cut out a rectangular section of it. Then use silicone glue to glue it onto the heel area of the floor mat. That should take care of the problem. Not sure if I'll do it above or below the mat yet though.. maybe below so it doesn't look ugly.

So basically the "rigid" pieces are not solid all the way through..?!

It looks like where the shoe heel sits, that's what will cause the wearing of that rigid piece with the hole in it...

Any pics of the back side of the mat???

Thanks

Exclamation

^^^ Yeup.. Design flaw right there!!!!

The rigid pieces are NOT solid all the way through... so it seems they are prone to wearing out quicker than any other areas and creating a hole... as seen above..

Yes the ridges are hollow. The whole mat has the same thickness, so where ever you rest your heel, it will ware through. Also depending on what type of shoes you are wearing will ware through faster. I wear dress shoes (with hard heels) every day to go to work, that's why I wore through in less then a year.

I've had mine since July--no problems yet. Since they didn't charge me for them, I won't be too broken up if the wear thru, plus I'll make them replace them anyway.

This is my second winter with these mats, and they still look new. And this has been one tough winter in TO.

What the heck???????? I was switching out my mats to the carpets this past weekend and there is a gigantic gash on my 1.5 year OEM rubber mats. The hole is right where I rest my foot. It seems like it is poorly designed and there are not enough cross supports along that area.

Not sure if the dealer will replace em.
