Default Not the Way I wanted to start 2008

As I was heading to my car today I noticed some dark spots on the rear bumper. I told myself that I should wash the car tomorrow but as I got closer it wasn't something I could wipe off. This had to have happended on Sunday and no note was ever left. I am a bit saddened but I know that it could have been worse. Being that this is the first time I am ever going to get body work done on a car, can someone please recommend a good shop in the alhambra/san gabriel area and also how much do you think it would cost? Thanks to the replies in advance.

Sorry but I am having a hard time posting my photos too. Here are the links.

Sorry to hear what happened to your bumper.... I have similar damage with my bumper and local body shops wanted $400-550 to repair and repaint. I wouldn't be suprised if your estimates are similar. Sorry, I don't have a recommendation on shops (I'm looking for one too).

I know it sucks but keep your head up and happy new year.

Sorry to hear/see your problem.

I'll go along with the estimate. We had to do a front bumper on my wife's ES300 - cost with popping the dimple in the cover $400.

My kids SantaFe just needed a bumper cover and fog light cost $680

I was an old customer of steve's. He was realy unorganized and his turnaround time was horrible. I have not been there in a couple of years so I cant tell you if his service has improved or not.

I would highly reccomend Backyard creations, Joe is realy maticules in the work he does and his turnaround time is excellent. Here is a link on the work he did on my car. His number is 626-575-8046

There is a place located in City of industry off the 60 and Azusa called

20/20 Autobody. They do GREAT work..I've had three cars pass through there with zero problems and great outcomes.

to tell u the truth...a good detailer can take that out..some touch up, wetsand and a good buff will make it look like new. but if really want to repaint then u can.

LiCelsior gives good advise.

I've had something similar happen to me. You have to draw a line between what is worth it and what is not, because given time most of us are going to experience something like this which is fairly minor, but none-the-less still extremely maddening.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, go to your local Lexus and get the touch up paint, then go to Wal-Mart and get some compound and scratch remover. Clean the bumper first and remove any burrs and then start applying thin coats of paint. Compound till smooth and reapply until the scrapes are level with the surrounding paint. Once it's smooth, use the scratch remover and it'll blend in better than you would expect and save you a lot of money!

I know it's aggravating, but before you pay someone, try it yourself, you can't mess it up any worse, plus it'll give you experience in how to correct other little mishaps that are bound to happen.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

I use to manage a bodyshop here in Canada. There's no way that bumper can be touched up or buffed out!

To paint a whole bumper would be around 400-500. But, if you go to a good shop, the painter might be able to do a Spot Paint Only job. Which means he'll mask that damaged area for paint, and do a basic blend to match the rest of the bumper. You wouldn't notice the difference! Cost for this usually runs around $180-$250. Good luck!
