Default first trip to the dealer

ive had my car about 2 months now (certified 06) i came across a tsib about a shaky rear view mirror. i had noticed this on my mirror before the bulletin. i have an appt. tomorrow morning and i plan on bringing the printed tsib with me just in case. im also going to have them check on the noisy idleing the car has? i know its probally the injectors but its more for my piece of mind.. out of curiousity do you think they will charge me to check out the noisy idleing?

p.s.

this forum is super helpfull, glad i came across it!

they might charge you, since your car still under warranty, talk them out of it if they do. I believe they shouldn't charge.

I'm not sure how noisy your idle is, but if you are referring to the noticable ticking idle noise, then it's more then likely the direct injection. All the IS have this noise and it's normal. When I first got mine, I couldn't believe how loud it was but after hearing from everyone else, I felt much better. I'm willing to bet the service advisor will just walk by it and say it's normal. To be safe ask him to take another IS in the lot and start it up. Compare the sound of both and then you'll have a peace of mind.

thanks guy's, i did a search on the "direct injectors" and found this to be fairly common in our cars. since i am going to be there i'll see if i can get the service advisor to start a new vehicle up for me so i can tell if theres a noteable difference?

I recently moved to where i am now so im really curious to know how the service people and techs. are going to be? im guessing nice and helpfull but you never know? i'll post the details of my lexus dealership expierence tomorrow..

if you ask. Try to ask for the same year to hear. The 08 that I got.. seriously, I can't hear anything.

I doubt they would add deadening material to the outside engine bay......just more dead weight on an already heavy car.

If you can hear it, windows up inside your car, there is a problem. If you hear the ticking when you are outside, then it is normal.

yep, no one hears anything from the inside with the windows up.

But now you know what the ticking is if you ever decide to take a listen

If your car's vin number is within the range you'll have no problem getting the mirror fixed. As for the noise......get use to it as it's normal. Either my car got over it or I'm so use to it I don't hear it anymore.....hmmmmmm.
