Default Quiet Tire Recommendations? Stocks are noisey IMO

Hi,

I find the stock IS250 18" tires rather noisy on the freeway. Does anyone else agree?

Any way when it comes time to replace them I'd like to get something quieter if it exists. Any recommendations or experience in this area?

TIA

Which tires do you have?

My Dunlop Sport Maxx-A's have been awesome. Quiet at freeway speeds, with good performance when pushing the car. The RE050's that your car has are not nearly as good as the RE050A Pole Positions that are available from Bridgestone for a few dollars more.

ER33s are garbage and Lexus should kick its own *** for putting them on a "sport" sedan.

I can't comment on the Dunlops, but the Michelin PS2's came stock on my brother's Turbo. While I wouldn't say they are the most quiet tire around, IMO they are the quietest of any performance-oriented tire (and provide the best overall balance) of any I've experienced.

I don't remember which car I had the RE050's on (may also have been the "A" model) but I distinctly recall them being noisy, not to mention they did not perform well in the rain, IIRC.

My stock Dunlop Sport Maxx from my 06 IS have been awesome. After placing a new order earlier this week, discount tire called me back and said there was a national backorder on the tires of more than two months...also the guy said that they have probably been discountinued alltogether.

That sucks because I really have liked them a lot. So now he is pushin Falken, Conti, BFgood KDW...but I really have to do some research now. Good price points but i want quality above cost. I hear those Goodyear gsd3 are good too.

Dammit I want Dunlop Sport MAXX!

I think the goodyear F1 allseasons would be a good choice. I had them on my 99 3000GT SL and they were very good tires. Quiet...good in rain and light snow and excellent dry traction. they are available in IS sizes. Check out the tirerack.com

A lower cost alternative is the Falken Azenis ST-115's. Very quiet tires, and very good handling as well. I've owned them, and they where great. I will be considering these tires when I get my 19's (or 20's).

Never have Discount Tire "Safety Sipe" your tires, they will add road noise to a normally quite tire.
