Default Weatherstrip falling apart at rear window

Hi guys,

My one year old IS has started to develop this problem where the weatherstrip of the rear window is peeling away from the pillar.

I garage my car and I have never taken it to a car wash. I cannot imagine the mild bay area climate can do something like this to a Lexus....?

My worry is that if I take it to the dealer and have it fixed under warranty (assuming they agree to do it), they will have to take apart the door and create more creaks and rattles which I've already got plenty with my IS....!

Does this happen to anyone of you? Did you do anything about it?

Any suggestions are welcome!

Mine has that too, but it doesnt bother me. Mine sits in 100+ degree heat in the summer time and 40-50 and a few overnight 30's in the winter time. it is the nature of weather stripping!

Roll down your window and try shift it back with your hand. Down just grab just that part but the whole upper strip and shift it to the left. Or pull off the upper strip and remount it back.

I used to do that when i was working at the shop.

Hey! Mine is the exact same. On the same side! How come the other side doesn't have this problem?

I'm going to take it into the dealership to fix because I also need to fix a bad motor on the passenger seat.

Oh.. BTW, ever since I got the car, I've noticed some increased wind noise from the doors. I'm thinking that it's a problem with the seals, but the techs say nothing's wrong. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Considering we have loose seals, do we have a problem that we should bring to their attention?

I good way to test is put tape, like those wide 3M Scotch painter tape or something similar, over the seal and window. Give it a drive, if you still hear the same noise then its not the seal fault.
