WOW! This really looks familiar...

The demage to your car is almost identical to mine, as are the circumstances under which it happened! Your damage looks to be a bit worse than mine, though. I hope it gets fixed soon and to your satisfaction.

How old are you? This sounds like something a teenager would do or say. If I believed in karma (I don't), then I would say that anyone who would beat the hell out of a rental just because he could deserves the misfortune that warranted the rental in the first place.

Are you certain about the $2K deductible? I would expect this to be covered under comprehensive just like any other damage that occurs to a car while not being driven.

The same thing happened to my friends first gen IS300 4 years ago parked in Chicago over night. It was $13,000 damage hit and run and took a month to fix. I would try to visit some body shops and see if cars come in with consistent damage (leave your name and number). Also, maybe post some pics of your car in a local grocery store and ask people for information on the possible culprit. I have a feeling, it was someone who lives close by and was possibly drinking or fatigue. The car is probbaly in their garage now and they need to get it fixed soon. You will find this person with persistance.

Finding the person might be possible, but proving guilt would be very hard without witnesses. I doubt the cops would put any effort into it either.

ahhhh man.....so sorry! You are going to have to find the culprit. The cops will do nothing unless you throw it in their lap. Good Luck and be diligent!

that's suck. But I hope since they tow it. It got to have some type of record for towing somewhere. Hope the cop could help him.

Exactly what I am thinking. Nobody parks in my driveway, unless there is room AFTER my cars are parked where I want them, which is almost always in the garage. That rule is the law around my house.
Sorry to hear about your hit-and-run incident. I hope they trace that tow and nail that son of a b#@ch!

A video would be the only thing that would allow you to take any kind of legal action. Not only that, you would have to get some sort of distinctive ID off the other vehicle (like a plate number) to proceed. Having gone through this myself recently, I'm sad to say it's the unfortunate reality of the situation. As for the insurance, I also had to pay the deductible, although mine wasn't nearly that high, thank goodness.

Was yours covered under comprehensive, collision, or uninsured motorist?

Not exactly sure - I'll have to dig through the paperwork to see.

Sorry to see you go through that. I hope they catch the person responsible for the Hit and Run.
