I believe most finance companies require a maximum of $500. deductible be carried for the life of the loan.
yes i think this is common and i know in the past that Honda Finance checked this with my insurance company frequently to make sure the coverage didnt change and I still had valid insurance. also note that i havent had any claims or accidents. im also a older driver so it must be standard practice to make sure the note is covered.
Update - spoke to the shop today, they finally completed their estimate: $4,700...provided they don't uncover any surprises after they rip the damaged parts off. Was actually a few grand less than I was thinking. I guess when it's your car, the damage looks worse than it really is.
Well, at least the insurance payout is more than your share, I guess that is kind of a lousy consolation. Sad to see any car get belted parked in front of the house like that, it happened to me many years ago...hit and run like this but mine was knocked hard enough to jump the curb. I guess it is better to get hit like this than belted and spun in the middle of a crowded intersection at rush hour. Here's hoping that the fix is right and timely.
