bad day #3
well i had my 250 for 3 weeks and this morning i was rear ended by a civic at about 10mph from a stop. What pissed me off is his 01' POS civic only suffer a couple of blemishes on the front bumper and my rear bumper had a 2 1/2 feet wide by 7 inches long scrape along with a dime shaped dent.
Planning to take it to one of those shops provided by Lexus after his insurance ok's it. For those who had their bumper redone, did they have to repaint the whole bumper or will they just touch up on it will paint? what about the dent?
will post some pics tomorrow at daylight

That sucks.
I can't believe how many 250s get rear ended on here.
The shop may fill in the dent and scratch the maybe spot paint the area and then clear the whole bumpercover.
You might be better off getting another bumper cover for $240.

my car was backed up by a cavelier in my school parking lot. He hit my driver side front bumper and cracked it right off the mounting.. also dented up the fender and tore of the fender liners.. Took it to my dealer's body shop who strictly works on toyotas and lexus' only. Replaced and repainted both front bumper and fender. Matched the paint up pretty good as well.. no complaints!

more like look front of you/pay attention and not the CD player, ipod, cell phone; people!! I literally saw him looking at his CD player in my rearview mirror when i slowed down because of the cars front of me. Next thing i know, his front bumper is making out with my rear bumper since my car is red, I can see it from a mile away

I would recommend you don't take it to Lexus. They just out source the work another bodyshop and sometimes the shops they take it to aren't that great. And say IF you have problems with the work you have to go back to Lexus, then Lexus has to call them, etc. Its a pain.
I suggest you ask around and find a Auto Body Shop that is AAA Certified. I got to one that they do phenomenal work. Lifetime warranty on the paint as long as you own the vehicle.

i got rear ended also at a light and got the bumper skin replaced. usually it's the adjusters that determine how much the damage is. if you don't want to pay the deductible call his (person who hit you) insurance company and file a claim. and in the meantime look for a good bodyshop in your area. his insurance adjuster will want to see the damage and when they contact you for an appointment make them go to the bodyshop to see the car. usually a good bodyshop will do all this work for you. than the body shop can tell the adjuster how much it's going to be to get the bumper fixed. and for future reference usually if the bumper skin is punctured or ripped you can ask for a new one but if it's just scratched up it's a tough call.

I got rear ended while I was at a stop... the person who hit me got smashed from behind and was pushed into my rear bumper.. the scuff was about 7-9 inches long and 3 inches high... body shop cost was about 600-700
